Charlton ...- poor mans Millwall

Oi!

That’s disrespectful to us! We’ve not spent the majority of the last decade in the third tier.

We have actually got to a FA Cup Final in living memory. Charlton rarely trouble the 4th Round!

Millwall have actually played in a European competition. Charlton sometimes play a match in Wales.

Millwall have been unbeaten at home for a whole season on 5 different occasions in four different divisions. Including a 59 match run, only bettered by Liverpool and Chelsea. I don’t think Charlton have ever even managed one season unbeaten at home. They’re more likely to be locked out of it & forced to play else where!

Millwall pioneered professional football in London and the South by founding and dominating the Southern League in the 1890s. The first professional, competitive league for southern based clubs - in defiance of the attitude of the London FA towards professionalism. Charlton were literally a park team until 1919.

Please just close this thread, who gives a fizz about Charlton, a club whose fans took a dislike to us because they thought we got more publicity than them the year we both got promoted.

The only thing we sadly have in common with them is we both have poo owners, and the fans deserve better.

Millwall are the

the only club to earn their nickname through football endeavour - beating the then giants of the game Preston, Everton, Derby County and the mighty Aston Villa on the runs to the FA Cup Semi-Finals of 1900 and 1903. The Dockers becoming the Lions in the eyes of the media. Charlton were once known as the Kittens with a brief stint in Catford!

They are more a rich man’s Barnet / Orient!!
