Always disliked Charlton, hate them after the 2012 season, listening to their fans after they beat us 1-0 at ours, then the FA cup game with Powell swinging on the bar!

L**ds of the South.

They sort of have a point.

Not enough points, which is why they are getting relegated.

Indeed but our points were obtained by players who shouldn’t have been here because we couldn’t afford them. Let’s face it we gotten away with it and we’d have been angry if the positions were reversed.

Perhaps all the clubs that are supporting Charlton should boycott the league next season, that way there is no way we will be relegated

Tell their fans to have a little sit down on that sofa they keep beside the pitch, meditate on the fact their biggest ever crowd was for a Who concert, realise their team were pants this season and that Lee Bowyer is lucky no one is bringing up his past misdemeanours in this “woke” era.

Personally I have no idea why they should benefit from our punishment for something that happened before they were even in this division.

They need to have a look at themselves before anything else

On 29 November 2019, Charlton Athletic were acquired by East Street Investments from Abu Dhabi, subject to approval from the English Football League (EFL). Approval was reportedly granted on 2 January 2020, however on 10 March 2020, a public disagreement between the new owners erupted along with reports that the main investor was pulling out. The EFL later stated that contrary to reports, the takeover had in fact not been approved. The Valley and Charlton's training ground were still owned by Duchâtelet, and a transfer embargo was in place as the new owners had not provided evidence of funding through to June 2021. On 20 April 2020, the EFL announced that the club had been placed under investigation for misconduct regarding the takeover. On 9 June 2020, Tahnoon Nimer was reported to have sold Charlton to a new consortium. On 10 June, Charlton confirmed that East Street Investments had been taken over by a consortium led by businessman Paul Elliott, and said it had contacted the EFL to finalise the ownership change. However, a legal dispute involving former East Street Investments director Matt Southall continued. Southall later attempted to regain control of the club to prevent Elliot's takeover from going ahead, but this attempt failed and he was subsequently fined and dismissed for challenging the status of the club's directors. Charlton were relegated back to League One at the end of the 2019–20 season after finishing 22nd

Because our squad was stronger than it should have been - it’s pretty obvious. We’ve dodged a bullet.

How many points has Rhodes gained us in the 3.5 years he's been draining our resources? None this season (or last, although in fairness he was out on loan!)

We were continuing to pay the wages of people like Fletcher, Bannan, Westwood, Lees, Hutchinson, Palmer etc.

We've got away with it due to all the delays. There’s nothing wrong with admitting it.

Charlton really are the whiners, they got naff all points so why should they stay up..they really are the [email protected] of London. Crap place to get to, which with the transport links in london means even locals dont want to visit. On a plus side for them they won't have to give us another 6 points!

In club stature, I agree, my reference to L**ds was more about how much I can't stand the fans.

It could be said that (Westwood's extension last year apart) we signed those players when we could afford them, and it was more recent expensive and unnecessary signings like Rhodes, Abdi, Jones, Winnall, Emmanuelson etc. which put us deeply in the financial mire yet had little to no impact on results in the last couple of years.

I’ve come round to the idea of not taking the hit this season so I’m glad the panel deferred the points penalty.

But if it had been the other way round - right or wrong - we would be saying exactly what they’re saying. That’s the nature of any football fan.
