BREAKING NEWS - EFL VERDICT - 12 POINTS

This might not be the death sentence every one is predicting. Derby may also be starting on -12, and it’s inevitable at least one if not two or three others will face admin before the end of next season.. I can honestly see a few facing the same promble........what a shambles football has become.

I think you might be right. It's a time for us to rebuild and hopefully keep the Chairman and his money onside and learn lessons from the recent past. I'll still be excited come the first game.

There’s Rotherham, Barnsley and Wycombe to play... sorry Wycombe quite like them lot,

Can you see us getting points with the shower of sheite we have ( " Allegedly "  ) playing for us right now.

Anyhow.

Nice one Chansiri or whoever made this decision. Was it the amazing c.e.o we had that made it ? The clubs been run like a joke. Disgraceful through and through.

Hope to God that Chansiri sells us to someone that has one ounce more business accumen than he does... Because at least that's a start. Because silver spoon in gob guy is clueless.

A few things that in my view are pretty clear going forward:

1: we are stuck with Monk at least for another half season. We may aswell give him the benefit of the doubt, get behind him and then judge him on what he has wanted so much,  a clean slate with an ability to shape his own squad.

2: no change in ownership. We as fans shouldn't waste any time wondering or campaigning for a change of ownership. There are so many obvious reasons why DC isn't selling up. We need to Iive with this and hope to God he starts making savvy decisions.

3: The ability to attract good players might not be as hard as we think. Many fans have said we need to look at The lower leagues and seek out the rough diamonds. Minus 12 doesn't change that it just emphasis this required philosophy even more.

This isn't a happy clapper approach and I hate the fact the early season optimism is taken away from us by this deduction but...there is an opportunity now and the next 5 weeks or so of recruitment will tell us a hell of a lot.

Sell?

There’s very little revenue coming into the club that isn’t out of Chansiri’s own pocket, there’s low crowds (with much talk about not renewing/attending next year), a poor squad and a -12 star in a division already crippling the club financially within fair play rules.

What would a buyer actually be buying?,  what could they do with the club? They’d want to buy the club for peanuts whereas Chansiri would be looking at £10m+

This club can’t be sold under current operating conditions

Still not sure how I feel about all of this. I guess it's hard to feel too guilty about Wednesday when Manchester City have broken the rules blatantly and to a much greater extent (and much greater efficiency), in a way that has distorted the whole Premier League and gotten away with it. Whereas we used our windfall to buy Sammy Winnall, Almen Abdi and Jordan Rhodes! Wolves, Bournemouth, Villa among others were on a path to breaking FFP if they hadn't got promoted (do Bournemouth start on -£48m courtesy their last two years spending in the Championship when they rejoin us, I don't believe they do). There's a list here of 28 other clubs that have broken FFP. Most of them received a fine, and in some cases a salary cap at most.

We had already been punished with a transfer embargo last year, and a weakened squad has limped over the line this year. On one hand, we could be lucky not to have been relegated this season, but on the other hand - the offence took place in 2017/18 (when a 12 point deduction would have moved us from 15th down to 20th) and the judgement (pending appeal) won't be settled until September 2020, so it would be a bit perverse to have the punishment backdated to the previous season.

However, lessons need to be learned in the boardroom about how to run a football club, structure a squad and plan for the future. It is okay bringing in one or two older players on higher wages where the squad is weak, but January 2017 must go down as a nadir in short-sightedness. We already had Fletcher, Hooper, Forestieri, Joao and Nuhiu, as well as young Hirst, one of the most promising junior strikers in England. The first 3 of those on big wages. Signing one of Winnall and Rhodes without balancing the books would have been odd, but signing both was just plain daft. Players that didn't suit our squad and the manager blatantly didn't want. Rhodes neshed out of taking a penalty, Forestieri and Winnall had a brawl, Hirst left in a sulk. Absolute shítshow and we've been suffering from this ever since.

But, the 12 point deduction doesn't need to be the end of the world. Here's why:

- 5 of the last 6 seasons a 12 point deduction wouldn't have sent us down.

- This year was the obvious exception, but we had a squad that has come to the end of the road. Fletcher (sadly), Winnall, Hutchinson, Fox, Forestieri, etc have all left. Hopefully Rhodes and Westwood are gone too (or at least packed off on loan with as large a % of wages as possible off the books). This gives us space to bring in the 6-10 players we need to transform the squad. There are half a dozen promising young players to pad out the squad (Penney and Hunt in particular)

- Because of C-19 a lot of players are going to be available on reduced wages. Many clubs won't be able to afford new signings and they will have many more Rhodes and Westwood equivalents of their own tied down on inflated long contracts

- Again, because of C-19, there will potentially be clubs going into administration, or at least having to trim their squads to the bare bones to survive

- Some weak looking teams have been promoted, one that probably wouldn't have made automatic promotion if the season had run its course, another that might not have made the playoffs. Another team finished 22nd in the Championship and only survived on a technicality. This season Birmingham needed 50 pts to finish 21st, I can see the survival total being nearer 40 pts next year with more weak teams.

- If we play our cards right, admittedly a big if, it could be a chance to bring in the first set of new players we need (we probably need the 2021/22 close season to totally overhaul the squad), hopefully develop a few of the younger players and build a new team atmosphere.

- And if it all goes títs up, the worst we can be is relegated, which is where we could have ended up this year.

Weren't  we in bother before Mandarin took us in though? I feel Chansori is that Ford in to the club now he’s here for a while yet. I’d just rather he got in a British CEO or DOF with bags of experience who does all the daily running of the football side of things.

Regarding Monk, he seems to be very stubborn and someone who will give it a go.

He could be the ideal man for this challenge.

Many managers would be bailing out after today's verdict,  Monk strikes me as someone who will revell in it.

Why does it? Explain in absolute detail how we will be relegated, when a ball hasn't even been kicked yet.

Why is next season fckd? What were you personally expecting? Promotion? If so, get a grip.

Why won't we recover? Explain to us all, why we won't, because all I can see is you being mardy-arsed.

You three are the very reason why there is so much negativity, not only on this forum, but throughout the entire stadium when we play at home. I hope you are proud.

Never been fans!

Get a grip we starting 12 points behind everyone else a good chance we go dwn nxt season u muppet .

Positives:

  • We were never going to challenge for promotion this year anyway
  • We're not in League One
  • We're not under transfer embargo
  • Complete squad overhaul can proceed unimpeded
  • Full transfer window and pre-season to bed in new squad
  • Clean slate for Garry Monk
  • Plenty of gash teams who wont reach 50 points
  • Things can only get better from here

62 points to stay up is 1.35pts per game and a comfortably mid table performance over the season. It's frustrating but it's not the end of the world. Another season of consolidation before we can start challenging again.

The best thing we can hope for is DC to sit in a darkened room and have a word with himself and realise he hasn’t a clue. Then talk to people who are respected in the English game and business and set them on to run the club for him. Then he should go back to Thailand and watch how it should be done. That’s the only way out of this mess. He hasn’t a chance of getting anything near what he’s spent buy trying to sell us.
Will he do this? I doubt it,

Why not a half decent squad and a good manager will have a chance if the playoffs in this poor league.

  • We're not in League One
  • We're not under transfer embargo
  • Complete squad overhaul can proceed unimpeded

Given our history of recruitment I have no confidence in anyone at the club to get this right!

  • Full transfer window and pre-season to bed in new squad

What's he been doing with the squad that got us to 3rd at xmas? Defensivley all over the place and no playing style!

  • Clean slate for Garry Monk

Why should he get a clean slate, 4 wins in 23, 17 points from 69, conceding goals for fun and awful football!

  • Plenty of gash teams who wont reach 50 points

Are we now relying on other teams been crap to save our own skin!

  • Things can only get better from here

Relegation next season will make things worse and given the last 23 games we've got a battle on our hands!

I don’t know if this has been said or asked, but if the EFL are saying the sale of our ground got put in the wrong years books, does this mean the sale of the ground as now gone in to the 2019 books? Meaning we have x amount to spend?? The sale money can’t just vanish, or have I missed something?

-12 is a shocker but can be turned around, I worry more about the Charlton appeal sending us down anyway

If Derby don't get like penalty, then we storm the Bastille
