Game plan tonight?

Recommended Posts

It wasn't pretty, but if you think Monk told the players to hoof it up to Muprhy and Windass, you're not in your right mind.

There were periods of play in the 1st half, where it was clear how they worked on breaking Huddersfield down. Get the ball out to one flank, and then look to move the ball quickly across the pitch, and attack down the opposite flank. We managed it on a couple of occasions, and nearly got through, with Odubajo and Harris both producing good efforts.

But, unfortunately, there's two teams playing  the game, and the other team, tends to try and stop you from playing the way you want to. Huddersfield pressed high. They played with 4 advanced players in a 4-2-3-1, and quite often looked to cut off those passing options, which allowed Wildsmith to play out from the back.

At times, the players could've been braver on the ball, and in the 1st half especially, we took the easy option to lump it.

But, hoof ball certainly wasn't the game plan. Huddersfield just stopped us from playing the way we'd ideally wanted to play the game.

First half was a flat back 5!

Stop hoofing the fkn ball up front to two bast*rd midgets

What game was you watching?

Our two best chances in the 1st half came from Harris and Odubajo.

If it was a back five, why did our wing backs get into such advanced areas?

Makes no sense at all

If you think we went direct to bypass midfield - yet we started with no target man to bring the ball down in the air, then I’d be thinking again Jose Mourinho how much you know about it

The trouble is, most of Wildsmith Hoofs start at our midfield. Then our midfield pass to Tom Lees, who rightly takes no chances (I wish our midfield took the chances instead of advocating responsibility), Tom passes back to keeper who hoofs forward....  rinse, repeat!

I could’ve counted 30/40 times Wildsmith was given the ball to hoof it up top.

We managed to move the ball quick across the park a handful of times, the rest - all the way back to Wildsmith.

We looked to get it up top as quick as we could - absolutely no doubt about that. It carried on right to the bitter end.

The plan appears to be to get the ball out wide and then cross.

We don’t ever seem to pull teams out of position. We don’t double up on full backs and we don’t create overloads.

We just get the ball with a team sat comfortably behind the ball and send those sort of diagonal crosses into the box that defenders eat for breakfast.

Be careful

Everybody else seemed to understand how direct we went tonight, but you’ll find a few on here who think they’re more tactically sound and will try to tell you we did otherwise....despite about 50 hoof balls from Wildsmith...

We hardly got out first half as kept spunking the ball back to em.

I thought the wing backs were 2 of the better players on the night but don't dress it up as we were pushing them back ... especially first half we were too deep.

Are you saying Wildsmith didn't lump it first half?

It is when " we boot it long and they head it away".

PS, we were in blue not them.

Said in other thread hudds, a lower team away from home were always going to sit deeper, so needed murphy playing off nuhiu and windass in middle imo

Instead we launched it to 2 short players vs cb's, embarassing tactics

Ps four points from the last two games

Two clean sheets

Well done Garry Monk

QPR have lost every game since the return to football.

Huddersfield have not scored in 4 games.

3 wins in 17....or 18 goals scored at home all season .

Yeah lets all give Gary a massive pat on the back eh?
