Rogerwyldesmullet
I think the best goal I’ve ever seen against us at Hillsboro was Lars Bohinen in the infamous 1-7 when he scored from somewhere outside the South Stand and bent it inside the far post. I’m quite proud, that some 25 years later, I can finally say that it was a brilliant goal.

It was a difficult transition for Alphonso - he had to relearn the game before heading to Germany... he felt that playing on ice was much better but once he traded his skates for football boots he transitioned very quickly .... Game highlights readily available on you tube. Some of the refs are real gems. back in late 70's when I lived in Hamilton Ontario my brother played for an English club (kids with English parents or immigrants) .. the on and off field hostility between clubs was legendary... Hamilton Croatia, Hamilton Italians (not sure if that's the correct name) turned the league into a very ugly place at times... saw quite a few on field brawls with refs being escorted off by police.... Canada - land of opportunity - where all nations come to find a better life... .. oh and to have big racial brawls at football games... Awesome!!!! Oh, and absolutely nobody applauded wonder goals for the other team... Edited July 13, 2020 by Whitecap Owl added

I remember Kewell scoring at the Leppings Lane end in our relegation season and people clapping. Wanted to punch them all, but as I was / still am soft as sh11te I didn’t. Same here, muttered something but never actually clapped or anything. You’re a simp if you do that

January made me shiver with every Green-Un I deliver. Bad news on the door step, I couldn't make one more step. Yes it was a brilliant goal and we all went Wow what a goal...the best applause I can remember when Michael Owen scored that hatrick at 17 years old...it was the only time I heard all the stands applauding a visiting players goal

sonofbert2
I’ve clapped opposition goals and I’m generally evil in support of Wednesday. No shame here, grow up!

Otley Owl
I generally give a grudging clap, mutter 'right goal' or something, then quietly say 'but eff off anyway.' Can't see any Leicester fans clapping these beauty's, they're all just angrymad!
Oliver Cromwell
Back in the days before fans were segregated you could have a conversation with opposition fans and and some good banter, clapping good goals by the opposition wasn't exceptional. It was allways interesting to get views on players from a different perspectve. It didn;t make anyone less fanatical about their own team, just more civilised

Can’t fathom that for the life of me Why would you not clap an ex player who was brilliant for us eg John Sheridan when he played for Oldham? I’m not saying clap when they score , but nothing wrong to clap when an ex player is introduced.

So why would I want to clap someone who scores a goal from our mistake !! UTO 30 yard screamer = why did you leave him room to shoot? dribbles past 4 men or more before placing ball in corner = why didn't anyone tackle him? bullet header from 12 or more yards out = where was the marking? Does that just about cover it?

The one that got me up out of my seat although technically not scored by opposition to the Owls was Davor Sukar's sublime chip for Croatia in Euro 96. I was sat bang behind/in line him as he did it - simply fantastic, kind of I was there moment that. I was in line with it as well. We were probably a few seats away from each other. When they show a slow motion replay from behind Suker I could pick myself out. Certainly was a wow moment made better with Schmeichel being the keeper.
