Paul Cook.....

Recommended Posts

Actually Paul Cook's record in his first part season at Accrington was not great and staying up relied on points they'd got under John Coleman and Jimmy Bell prior to Cook's arrival.

Whilst Accrington started the next season strongly their form dipped a lot in the Autumn.

Chesterfield took Paul Cook muchly based on Accrington being very impressive at Chesterfield even though they lost on the night.

By that stage Accrington's points return was becoming so poor its unlikely their board would have put up much of a fight to keep him.

And all better options than The Organ Grinders Monkey

.......and that in a nutshell is our problem. It's not the monkey that needs changing, it's the organ grinder. DC stands for Disastrously Clueless.

It won't make a difference who the manager is whilst ever he insists on running everything.

Get ready..

Here they come...

All the usual suggestions..

Mick McCarthy
Big Sam

Get Carlos back
Gary Megson
John Sheridan
Ryan Lowe
Chris Waddle
Neil Warnock

etc etc etc

Although I totally agree with your sentiment, I don’t think Ryan Lowe should be in the usual Suspects list

he is an up and coming manager that may be a good candidate in the future

That was 8 years ago. He’s had 3 promotions with 3 different clubs since then.

Lowe has already let the Star know that he has 'unfinished business' at Hillsborough. He has a good owner at Plymouth and some might think he would be mad to jump out of that fairly cozy environment into the S6 frying pan, but he probably realises that one day somebody will be a hero here, as Sturrock once said. Funnily enough, also Ex-Argyle.

He is a disciple of shittte or bust football which would be a breath of fresh air at Hillsborough after the fare served up in recent times. Has failed to relocate from Liverpool to Devon so far.

I know everyone is trying to be helpful with all these suggestions for the next manager, and it comes from a warm loving place, and everyone just wants the most exciting new manager we can find (If Monk gets the bullet that is).

But look at the history of this club, the history of managerial appointments, and understand that whoever you come up with it'll be miles away from what we end up with

I'd take Paul Cook, done well everywhere he's been

Another name to throw in the mix is Kenny Jackett. He's done well in the Championship before and would be a cheap option and let's face it can't be any less inspiring than Monk

There has to be someone better surely.

If we stay up, go absolutely all out for Chris Hughton.

If we go down, Ryan Lowe. He’s done a fantastic job at Plymouth and he’d be stupid to stay there ahead of joining a club like ours.

What’s Chris Coleman up to these days? I know he didn’t do magnificently at Sunderland, but wasn’t backed and that club faced even greater challenges than us. Not to mention he did a fantastic job with Wales.

That would be a great shout IF but only if he could bring Gareth Bale with him.
