I agree some will need a shoulder around them, some will need shouting at and some will need smoke blowing up their bums! Ultimately a good football manager does all of the above but also knows what to do when the chips are down! Unfortunately for us this is where we fall down big style!
TheLastSleepingGiant
We knew the challenge in terms of fitness and squad depth coming back like this. We needed all hands on deck even if just until the end of the season. Unfortunately that ship had already sailed due to Monk publicly “finishing” players in December. I fully agree with most if not all leaving once this years done but look at what’s missing from the immediate battle we’re now in: Hutchinson - Would fight, scrap and keep this side going until the end of the season. Has never given short of 100% in blue and white Fessi - Shambolic management by fitness team and manager to allow him to come back in such an alleged state. Poor all season but can change a game and gives the opposition something to think about Fletcher - Unfortunate with Injury Winnall - Played a bit part role for Derby when on loan, never worked here but again surely offers from the bench if players are on the redline Fox - We should have got the extra money we needed to secure him long term. Would have punted for him over Pelupessy if budgets are that tight Westwood - Can’t fault Wildsmith but still crazy how his career at Wednesday has fallen to pieces. Would have resale value if played and not left to rot 4 additional outfield bodies just there, all with experience in the league and all with something to offer. I’m really not a fan of monks management style and the way he speaks openly in the press. Regardless of his thoughts on players we could have quietly cleared the lot this summer professionally whilst getting some use now when we need bodies and options.

Surely the only person at fault there would be the player himself?

Fitness/Weight/BMI/workout Monitoring etc. Zoom Meetings demanding why his input hadn't been at the required level? Don't get me wrong As a professional footballer you’d expect better but knowing what a two hat he’s been surely we’ve kept a close eye on him and tried to keep him engaged? Just seemed to come back and suddenly a big shock his fitness is disgraceful and he’s a goner! Although this is Wednesday so maybe we just sent him on his little jolly break and hoped for the best! He will have had a plan to stick to just like every other player in the football league. Ah, I see what's happened here: you've invented your own version of events and are now holding that against our manager and physios. Whatever the players' fitness programmes were, the rest of our squad appear to have come back in decent enough shape. The anomaly seems to be Forestieri.

Bullen until the end of this dreadful season then give a new manager a “summer” break to get players in. Huge squad rebuilding to be done in the summer. Who would want to come to come to a club which has just lost virtually every match for half a f@@king season! Whilst players are on the whole money grabbing snakes, there is probably a small interest in being part of a winning team, going somewhere. With seemingly not a pot to p in, we need a set up that attracts talent not wholly based on cash being the incentive. What good will it do to hold onto GM in some vain hope he manages to miraculous turn things around. Ain’t going to happen.

Clubs tend to continue this form into the next and drop through the league's. As we have in the past plus Sunderland, leeds, united, Huddersfield and so on. jonnyowl
Like how our players are on the brink, but Wilder said his players have found extra energy. They probably want to do it for their club and manager, whilst ours probably cba!
Athelwulf
The players are on the brink, the fans are on the bog, but we're still bobbar Gary. We're bib, we're bob, we're dropping a log. And we might go down. And the Blades might get into Europe with a team which, under any other manager, would be lucky to cheat the drop. And we'll have to endure week-long celebrations on Look North when Leeds go up. Down in brown.
