Popular Post Owls Loyal
Monk was fired by Swansea, fired by Boro and fired by Brum. He is now failing miserably at SWFC. Mick McCarthy is available and would be a steady pair of hands in these troubled times for the club. Just for the record Mick McCarthy achiveved: Promotion to the Premier League - Sunderland Promotion to the Premier League - Wolves Play Off's - Ipswich Town Qualified for World Cup Finals and reached secondf Stage in South Korea with the Republic of Ireland. 17

Popular Post torryowl
He'd be my choice if monk goes .....his attritional way of playing is what we'll need with the type of players we'll be acquiring. 7
Owls Loyal
Monk was fired by Swansea, fired by Boro and fired by Brum. Big Mick McCarthy though has achieved some success in football management unlike Monk. Two promotions to the Premier League and a Championship play off with hard up Ipswich Town is a very decent record. 3

Owls Loyal
This fan base is no different to those at other clubs in that they can see when a manager is failing miserably. Monk was fired by Swansea, fired by Boro and fired by Brum. 1

Orlando_Trustful
I would definitely take Dingle Mick. He wouldn't let some of this squad mince around on the pitch like they have done for large parts of this season. It wouldn't be pretty, but it 'could' be effective. 1

You keep repeating this, but it’s quite irrelevant because most that we’d be in the market for will have been sacked at some point. big Mick was sacked by Sunderland and Wolves. I’d have big Mick if we have to stick with this squad of players. But if we can have a proper clear out then we need someone who’s going to be long term, I can’t see McCarthy being a long term manager anywhere these days. I wouldn't say he's failing miserably when he has half a squad, and before that the squad was a mess to Begin with. It's not as if they're underachieving, as they've never achieved anything. 13
Bloxwich Owl
Mick McCarthy being linked with the Bristol City job, along with Chris Hughton & Ryan Lowe who is currently the bookies favourite.
vulva
If we need a new manager, Hughton is the stand out candidate. But he wouldn’t come. It’s a job with far too much risk.
Owls Loyal
I do agree that for virtually all managers the sack comes eventually. Even Arsene Wenger at Arsenal was fired after 20 + years of winning trophies. But the key fact with Monk is that he has been fired after very short tenures. His tenure is averaging at less than 12 months. Monk is divisive and falls out with people. Monk was fired by Swansea, fired by Boro and fired by Brum

I guess the point he’s making is Monk didn’t achieve much at his clubs before being sacked whereas McCarthy at least got promotions etc and got sacked in the PL. But I’m not sure about McCarthy, as you say he’d be good with our current crop and financial restraints but the football would be turgid. IF the plan is for Monk to bring in young players this summer then at least that is some kind of plan for the future

Bielsa, Bruce, Hughton, Warnock, Allardyce - like these 60+ managers, McCarthy, has direct successful experience of how to get promotions from our division. 2

latemodelchild
I'd like to look into Monks previous record and experience before calling for a change in manager. Might Google some details of his career at some point.
