Oh dear, the thought police are out in force today.

How dare fans have a debate about whether a young, successful, English manager would be a better fit for our club than the wazzock we’ve currently got in charge.

OK, let's judge the two managers on the criteria you've laid out, then:

Monk: English; 41; 1.44 points per game from 160 Championship matches; 1.31 p.p.g in the Premier League

Johnson: English; 39; 1.38 points per game from 195 Championship matches; 1.35 p.p.g in League One

For my money I reckon he's one of the best squad builders in the Championship (assuming he had a large influence over Bristol City's transfers).

For the simple reason we don't have a pot to ******** in... nah.

He's done nothing at Bristol of note. They've sold and spennt well but he hasn't improved them.

Would you clarify successful please? As i am struggling to remember what he has achieved,  Might have missed him in the champions league or winning at Wembley... has he won more than Monk as a manager? Think his main claim is that he has managed the same club as his dad.

He’d achieved nothing prior to his appointment at AG and that in itself raised a few eyebrows amongst the faithful......That said he had improved our league position season on season but never actually reached the play offs.

This season the stuff he’s been serving up has been dreary, dull and uninspired - just the same as his father and fans got seriously fed up with the grey football being played and the rot set in on the day of the restart losing at Blackburn. Then you guys tuned us over at AG followed by a 1-0 loss at Forest and the final nail was losing at AG to Cardiff.

The board (Steve Lansdown............😎) finally wielded the axe today and 90% of City fans are delighted!

For a team that hovered around the drop too much before he got there, it was a solid consolidation job.

Carlos just missing out on getting us into the playoffs for the two seasons he was here is basically the job he has done then.

How many times have we been saying they will go up on here and everyone in awe of there team and model they have. And to not get in the playoffs once in that time when you look at some of the teams that have got there is all down to him I am afraid.

That’s interesting reading.  No sarcasm - good research.

Here’s another way of looking at it:

Lee Johnson - 6 league wins from the last 17 fixtures - sacked.

Garry Monk - 3 league wins from the last 17 fixtures - still in work.

It's a yes from me.

He was the manager I wanted here when Bruce left.

Although I'll for some reason never forget that bizzare comment he made on the BBC radio Sheffield pre-season managers session where he said "sometimes you have to cheat to win"
