If they finish 12 pts above the relegation zone they deduct them this season and they stay in Championship Is this correct? In other news just on sky the Premier league chairman reported before a parliamentary committee yesterday that no talks have taken place ever between the EFL and the Premier league about financial support for the football league teams struggling with CoVid. I haven't seen lots of articles about their plight etc. Plenty on us, derby and Birmingham and EFL but nothing on Wigan. Terrible for Wigan fans, clubs going into administration when there is so much money in football is terrible. If Wigan finish outside of the relegation place the -12 will be applied this season likely relegating them. If they end up in the bottom 3 then the -12 points is next season. Basically they are probably going to be relegated unless they finish 12 points above the bottom 3, they are currently 8 points outside the bottom three and have won their last 3 games. I hope they keep winning and get the points they need Huddersfield, QPR, Boro, Hull are in free fall so they have every chance of staying up. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Given the previous owner presumably gave various warranties in the sale contract they may very well be quite nervous at the minute. Also as regards the sale only being made a month ago, it's possible the sale was made in say February, and the next few months were simply spent satisfying conditions precedent (or subsequent as drafted) one of which would no doubt have been satisfaction of the EFL's fit and proper person test.
