The problem is that if Cardiff blow up then there are 3 teams already 5 points ahead of us who could just as easily go on a run. 2 more teams who are 4 points in front of us, and so on... Are all of those teams going to blow up too, not impossible, but highly highly improbable. And that is what we would need, along with a historic winning run from us if we wanted to grab 6th. 73 points is the average haul needed for 6th, and I could be mistaken but I think that the lowest ever was 68 points. Looking from the bottom 3 - 50 points might not be enough to stay up what a strange season this has been. Even stranger that the same fans were waxing lyrical about Chansiri taking on the EFL in the first place. IF we'd averaged a fairly measly 1.3 points per game (i.e. lower midtable form over a season) from those 14 games between Christmas and lockdown, we'd have been in the top 6 now.
