THE EFL HEARING THREAD

This is getting ridiculous a total change needs to happen as we cant end every season with the results of the league decided by the court room.

A radical change should be made, scrap P&S and replace it with something else.  My suggestion would be have a fund that all clubs pay into based on their income (say 5% of their income, easily done as just take it off what EFL gives the clubs) this then goes into a pot so if a club go into trouble the EFL step in, sell any assets and try to find a buyer for the club.   There could be a mandatory clause in all player contracts that if the EFL take over the club then their contracts can be cancelled so the EFL can get a clubs spending very quickly under control.   A club should not be allowed to be more than X amount in debt.  Any owner that has the club taken over by the EFL will be banned from owning or running any football club for life.

Obviously it would need a bit more meat but you get the idea, something radically different.  This whole points deduction is a complete joke especially in our case where we have a rich owner so our spending is sustainable.

The EFL is owned and governed by the clubs. Which club owners do you think is going to agree a plan which requires them to hand over 5% of their businesses income to a 3rd party for which their payback is the risk that if their business has financial difficulties then that the 3rd party will be allowed to seize their business and sell its assets etc?

Simple fix.

Spend what the foook you like, like happens in the real world.

If you spend / gamble more than you can afford and go bust, serves you right...like happens in the real world.

Besides that, how the foook does having a rule limiting spending to £39m help a club who can't get anywhere near that anyhow..

What a murky business football has become. Our chairman is only guilty of trying to put too much money into his club. As for Charlton, firstly why would anyone want to buy it and even if they did, why on earth buy it in the middle of a pandemic?!

very worrying

So who would that be serving right? The owner, or the supporters who lose the club they have supported all their lives?

The reason why there are rules in place is to avoid that very thing happening.

Said as much on Twitter and got shot down. Ironically by a Norwich fan.

£45M would give every club a chance to spend within their means...if you haven't got it then you face the consequences

The rules are bent anyway. Why on earth should football creditors get first dibs on everything?

Laws need changing so that all creditors are treated equally.

whether we have sympathy with the Blunts or not is to me a travesty of justice.i have no objections to clubs appealing VAR decisions . The one thing I do object to is the time which expires between the action , the appeal and the decision.More and more football decisions are turning into court dramas. At one time , long before the introduction of 'technology', there was one man who acted as Judge and Jury, and there was little or no appeal to the Referee's decision. I honestly feel that the more the Ref's authority is questioned by camera, slow-motion whatever, the worse the quality of Refereeing has become, and Sport is the worse off for it..

Meanwhile it's ok for Man City to show "blatant disregard" for FFP according to UEFA... so that's our ticket to getting rid of the EFL case against us. We're not in breach, we're just showing our blatant disregard for your silly rules...

More and more coming to the conclusion that the CAS / Man City full verdict is the reason our outcome is delayed.

The reasoning behind the decision will become 'case law' in rule breaches so would make sense for the tribunal to wait for the full transcript prior to judgement on us.

Its the only plausible explanation.

Bournemouth will have to pay a fine of £7.6m after they broke Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules on their way to securing promotion to the Premier League last season.

Clubs are allowed a 'maximum deviation' of £6m per season without punishment under the FFP agreement but the Cherries posted a £38.3m loss in 2014/15 as they won the Sky Bet Championship.

The was an increase from a loss of £10.3m the previous season, predominantly due to player and staff wages, which rose to £30.4m, a figure more than double the club's turnover of £12.9m.

The also broke doping controls in 2017 and got away with a fine.
