THE EFL HEARING THREAD

Recommended Posts

I just can’t see us getting a 21 point deduction. For that to have happened, it would have been an open and shut case, we’d have been found guilty after 3 days and they’d have thrown the book at us.

As it is, it’s 4 weeks later and we’re still waiting for a decision. That suggests a complex and marginal case, and I would expect any punishment to reflect that.

But my gut feeling is that someone within the EFL, rightly or wrongly, gave the club assurances that we were ok to take the action we did, and that ultimately we’ll be found not guilty.

There’s no way the IDP haven’t reached a result yet. No way whatsoever

Agree absolutely , given the hearing was on a Zoom call can't see this having lasted more than a three days (one of which will have been spent with technical getting it to work.) Or perhaps they were using the "not paid for option" and getting disconnected every 40 mins!

The members of the IDP will also be annoyed as they won't have had a free three course lunch each day or been able to claim first class rail fares. No doubt they made up for it by having to have new laptops each!

Maybe our QC just changed his name on Zoom to ‘connecting ...’ to make out he couldn’t get a connection to stall for time?
Case ongoing.

So we enter the last game of the season and we still don’t know the outcome. Absolutely shambolic.

I think they have held off announcing until the season is over ,that way the Barnsley's if this works can't create an argument about any decision while play is still on going .

at the end of the day if our players had performed in the field since the restart we wouldn't be bothered.

shame on the 3 who walked away from us and who have been paid handsomely and supported through difficult personal times

What’s the alternative?

They deduct us points 2 weeks ago, we are relegated tonight yet appeal and win, so 4th bottom who were safe get relegated a week after the last game.

That doesn’t seem likely the EFL would let that happen IMO

ALSO. There’s a chance even with a deduction we win tonight and stay up anyway.

The alternative is to announce the outcome of the trial and, any punishment if necessary.

Pre-empting a situation regarding appeals etc is completely pointless. If a club has a right to appeal and, the appeal is won, the league table will be altered accordingly. The team who are then relegated, would have been relegated in the first instance if the punishment wasn’t handed initially.

Do you not feel as though the sacrificial club relegated in your scenario would launch legal action? They only need to demand a date in which the trial ended and, your whole scenario blows open.

Any chance that we have joined forces with Derby County in our appeal, seeing as we have also used the same representative?

I know our cases are different, but at least part of the charges are the same - could explain the delay, and why they might be waiting to announce the outcome of both cases at the same time?

As said before my guess is either a ridiculously harsh / lenient outcome for us .

Delay on announcements is to keep the "integrity" of the league and to keep it competitive until the end.

Statement issued at 2am UK time tomorrow morning and a mad rant from Chansiri?

Anyone who thinks it be good idea if we go down this season, must be really off their rocker . Going down could seriously be the death knell of the club, the way things are going lower leagues are going to implode. There is only so many rich people out their with money to squander, look what happened to Bury, just because clubs have a long history does mean they will always be there, they will not.

We are in a financial mess for sure along with very many other clubs in the championship, there very few clubs with a financial model that is sustainable. We really do need to stay in the championship or I fear the worst.
