Fernando Forestieri has heard nothing from the club

Gullible taking CCs side of story ... Dont matter anymore, but remember who sided on management.  Barf.

My main gripe with this "story" is that for whatever reason he didn't make the team bus to Norwich, and the rest of the team did. Yet 2 months later the rumour was the chairman had given him a substantial wage rise.

I can't see that being true. Fox is a better player now than then, minimum we would offer is existing terms and probably a bit on top for inflation . Personally I can see him getting £10K-£12K.

You're ignoring the fact that we are in a very different financial situation now. About time players wised up too. Most clubs outside the PL will be simply trying to stave off bankruptcy so clearly their biggest expenditure will need to be reigned in significantly.

There's also a possibility Fox is hoping for a move but playing it clever.  Ask for a sizeable wage to extend his contract on the assumption the club says no but happy days (financially if they agree). If club refuses, he can claim he wanted to stay but club wouldn't offer he a reasonable deal thus saving face. Sure he'll get a reasonable deal elsewhere and who could blame him for wanting to leave after the horrendous stick he's received for several years.

Can’t believe the comments about Fox. Left footed players are of a premium as it is, let alone decent  fullbacks that have been as good as any player in our squad. Signing a new contract as an established player also avoids transfer fees, signing on fees and settling in time.

There is nothing as murky as the financial dealings within football

Remember when John Terry would only sign a new contract at Chelsea if it guaranteed he would always be their highest paid player?

Not heard that one. I heard the chav fans that Chelsea breed were happy to line his pockets to attend  their poor kid’s christenings, to the tune of £10k a time.

Lest we forget he was less than discreet with his attention toward Wayne Bridges partner, finishing Bridges careers at Chelsea and England. To cap it all, his wife stayed loyal.

Lets hope Covid rids us of this greed, although I doubt it.

Rant over.

This is purely speculation on my part - but it is also educated guesswork as to how football operates...

Lets just say FF (more likely his advisers) asked for Y - the club said - we cannot pay that amount but we can go as far as X

And after some back and forth Team FF agree that "ok if that is the best you can do we will sign" - then a short while later another player comes in and instantly gets Y...

Now i know people will say "well if the greedy t.wat cannot live off £20k pw" (whatever)

But that is not the point in those mega financial deals - if a player feels betrayed over what they have accepted based on promises then they do have justification for feeling scammed

It is exactly what happened to Ashley Cole at Arsenal - and he was forever known as greedy (Cashley) after that despite the fault being with the club and not him

Surely the other player is entitled to earn 'Y' while FF is paid 'X' due to his experience of playing and performing at a higher level more?

Shouldn't feel scammed that the club are able to pay more to a player of higher stature in the game at the time.

When you look at Forestieri’s time at Wednesday after that first season where for me he was the best player in the league, we’ve had the following...

Refused to play for the club.

Was suspended by the club for a training ground incident involving Sam Winnall.

Called out in the media by the vice captain for not trying hard enough in training.

Returns to training after the COVID19 outbreak way behind his team mates in terms of his physical condition.

Spot on.

Fans are blinded by the fact his agent has told him to have a mini Hillsborough in his house, pose with a few kids and play the wounded animal.

The quicker he goes, the better.

Always two side's  of the story with Monk.

If I were a player who is not to get a new contract why would I sign for a extra month at a risk of getting an injury and not being able to sign for a new club next season.

You choose not to believe either Bannan or Monk that he hasn’t been giving his all in training?

Or your own eyes in warm-ups and half-time routines?

Strike you as a player straining every sinew to get his shirt back?

Do you think the majority on here think many of the players have been straining every sinew this year? The same ones that have failed regularly in 2020 get picked in the squad.
