Starting 11 for Forest

Recommended Posts

I think this starting 11 is probably going to be one of the most important, crucial, defining, call it whatever you will starting 11’s in Wednesday’s recent history and maybe Garry Monk’s managerial career, never mind his career as manager here?

This starting eleven will probably show whether he’s properly used the last three months to reflect on what’s wrong here and what went totally wrong here since Christmas or whether he’s still clueless

and needs to be removed from his current post ASAP?

This is the eleven I would pick given the players who will probably be available?

Wildsmith

Palmer

Iorfa

Borner

Fox

Murphy

Luongo

Bannan

Reach

Fletcher

Rhodes

It probably won’t be the eleven Monk will pick but it’s our best eleven available IMO?

As far as we know at this stage it'll be a rare luxury of having an injury free squad to pick from. Sadly Westwood and Hutchinson won't be available so it's not a full strength squad, but I'd go:

Wildsmith

Palmer Iorfa Borner Fox

Murphy Luongo Bannan Reach

Forestieri

Fletcher

Have we still got Wickham?

Should be as match fit as the rest now.

Don't think he's been match fit for a while

Spanner in the works is match fitness. Not just best players...

FORESTIERI instead of Rhodes. Otherwise spot on

Understandably, everyone names Luongo in the XI because we've needed him - but he hasn't played for 5 months. Fit to start with inadequate prep? ..I doubt it.

Here we go again with the Rhodes gold fish memory sindrome. We go a few weeks and it's all "give him a chance" nuts

I just think the best front two we’ve got that work as a pair are Fletcher and Rhodes. It worked last pre-season and it worked the last time we played Forest. Unfortunately we just haven’t seen it used enough for a variety of reasons.

Would really like Monk to play Wildsmith but I very much doubt he will. Will be Dawson in goal who let’s be honest was putting in some shocking performances before the season was halted. That Brentford showing was Sunday league standard.

Fletcher and Rhodes looked great against Forest at their place. Wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world trying it again. He better not start bloody Pelupessy in midfield. If fit it has to be Luongo and Bannan, hope Hunt comes in if either of those 2 are injured.

Pelupessy will start with Luongo being out for so long. May see the best of him now with no one there to boo when he gets the ball.

The club are setting up a video link for live booers.
