@owlstalk
Ok time for an updated TOP TEN Sheffield Wednesday Players Of All Time Drop your suggestions below and we'll compile it into a voting system and then we can whittle it right down to the best/top 10 Sheffield Wednesday players ever. Obviously Hirst, Waddle, Sheridan, DiCanio, Nilsson, Owen Morrison will definitely be in everyone's lists of best ever but if we stretch it to the top 10 let's see who would make the list. 2 Owlstalk Shop

hasthagotanycheese
How do we quantify relative greatness in those players that represented the club that nobody on here can remember actually seeing them play? Much as I absolutely love the likes of Terry Curran etc, there will be lads from the early parts of the 20th Century whose achievements with the club in terms of number of games played, championships won and international caps dwarf those of TC. Perhaps it should just be Greatest Players post 1950?

Well I guess the answer to this conundrum is simply if you don't know a player was the greatest you wouldn't really vote for them It's more players you have seen play I guess Owlstalk Shop

Owls Loyal
I would have Carlton Palmer in central midfield over Tommy Craig every day of the week. Carlton was worth two players. A bit like Tony Kay in that regard.

Atkinson and Hirst in my ten as well but chapman a better player than bright. 2

If I was picking my all time best Wednesday 11 ( I’ve been going since 1979) Chapman would partner Hirst. Chapman has a far better goal scoring record than Atkinson ever had. I would have to check against Bright. Edited June 8, 2020 by sexpistol
