oldishowl Posted June 7, 2020 Share Posted June 7, 2020 The issue with the formation is whether we are good enough at any one formation to impose ourselves on the opposition and consistently win games. All the best sides in our division are. The answer is probably no. So the manager has been stuck between a rock and a hard place, does he pick a consistent formation or does he tweak things to try and pick up points. Monk has had some success changing formation based on opponents weaknesses but it doesn’t help consistency. Add injuries to key players with no decent backup and it gets even harder. The only way you get a consistent style is to give a manager time , control and improve recruitment. Of course , it’s picking the right manager. Holmowl Posted June 7, 2020 Share Posted June 7, 2020 Don’t forget that with Fletcher we were third, and catching the top two fast. We’d taken 10 points from 4. We’d scored 10 in 4. Our strikers were absolutely not a problem. Fletcher 6 Rhodes 3 Nuhiu 1 It was working really well. Without his quality we fell off a cliff. S36 OWL Posted June 7, 2020 Share Posted June 7, 2020 There are going to be a lot of players this summer who will take a pay cut in order to get a contract at a club. There is no need for us to hand out new contracts to the players we have the chance to get rid of, apart from Fletcher in my opinion.
