How can you not love the guy

Probably because it doesn’t make sense for a club that is already in financial trouble to pay someone who doesn’t contribute to the team over £1million a year just because they are “infectious” and “clearly a fantastic person to be around”

He does contribute to the team when we play properly. It’s monks contribution that is the problem, as it was with Jos. Play a attacking possession based style like CC did at first and Bruce was started to implement and you’ll get the best out of him.

I lost all respect for him when he spat his dummy out and refused to travel to Norwich. He should have been shipped out then.

Forgiveness is one of life’s greatest gifts. It rids you of your frustration and negatively towards someone and makes you feel good about yourself.  You ought to try it.

What has he contributed in the last 3 seasons? 8 goals? Hardly someone we have to build a team around.

How many times in the last 3 seasons have we played attacking football ??

Maybe Forestieri isn’t the problem

Or maybe you look at his stats throughout his career and see that at every club he’s been at he’s failed to nail down a regular starting place and perform consistently. The first 18 months we had him was by far the best he has performed anywhere throughout his career, given that he is now 30 I would say that purple patch was the exception rather than the norm.

Why did he perform so well in his 18 month stint here ?? A good manager would ask that then do something to sustain that.

Doesn't seem to have bothered Fletcher. His productivity has considerably improved in the last 18 months or so.

And why is that ?!? Again it’s down to the style.

The style?

That explanation/excuse is usually used for the purposes of confirmation bias, especially when it relates to Jordan Rhodes. It's a cop out most of the time. When he scores it 'proves' how good he is, and when he doesn't; something amorphous is to blame. No more authoritative than claiming the tablets I'm taking are keeping the dragons away.

Like I said just a purple patch in his career. Most players have them at some point. Unless you are suggesting that at every other club he’s been at the “style” wasn’t suited to him there either.

He's only really played at us and Watford, he's never really had a run anywhere else and he was  good at Watford there style suited him. He might not have had the goals which is the purple patch you elude to but he was good for them. Then he came here and had the performance and goals in a good attacking style. We then changed and his form as dropped. Not totally his fault that

Not sure that’s true mate.

If you can be bothered, go on the Hornets site and type in Forestieri. You’ll read exactly the divided opinion you find on OT.

Their summary - terrific talent, don’t know his position, couldn’t hold down a place.

He’s had about 6 clubs in Italy, couldn’t hold down a place for too long at any of them. At Watford he was a bit part player and played in roughly 60% of the games. They only ever started him when they were playing against the dross like us.

They practically gave him away when they got promoted, shows you just how well thought of he was.
