CATHEDRAL.jpg

Last night there was a bad fire at Sheffield Cathedral and it's hit their Archer Project really badly.

The Cathedral Archer Project is a safe, warm and welcoming place for the homeless and vulnerable in Sheffield.

They support the homeless of Sheffield to increase their self-esteem and take steps to change their lives.

You can make a donation (no matter how small) here 👉 https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/archerfire

The Archer Project helps homeless people achieve a better life by supporting them to:

  • Develop their independence
  • Improve their ability to tackle setbacks
  • Improve their ability to identify and change negative behaviour
  • Improve their wellbeing

They get to know people because they want them to realise that they can trust The Archer Project to help them. When people trust the project they are more willing to take part in activities and seek 1-1 support to address their issues. Typically issues will include:

  • Lack of accommodation
  • Broken family relationships
  • History of offending
  • Poor mental and physical health
  • Substance misuse

That's something I'm sure every single reader of Owlstalk would agree with and want to support.

Last night there was a fire.

We do not yet know the full extent of the damage but the fire is out. It is particularly sad and difficult as the fire has affected the part of the Cathedral where the Cathedral Archer Project work from and meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable people in our City. No one was hurt in the incident. The cause of the fire is being investigated by South Yorkshire Police and the Fire and Rescue Service.

We are wanting to raise money to help support the charity getting back up and running and back on it's feet again.

This is the first time in ages we've asked for Owlstalk readers support for a charitable cause so I'm hoping we smash this target of £2500 to bits!!!

You can make a donation (no matter how small) here 👉 https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/archerfire

It’s the people who frequent these premise that’s the big issue.

You mean a fellow human going through a rough time, homeless and needing help with various issues?

These people who run these kind of things are like angels to them who need it.

I hope the 2500 is smashed and lots more is raised to help restore it and help those who "Frequent" it get their life back on track and be able to live their life going forward.

THANK YOU to everyone who's contributed so far

We're off to a flying start

If you could all just take a couple of minutes to give whatever you can (even if it's just a quid it doesn't matter as it all adds up!) that would be amazing, and you'll feel great knowing you did a great thing for a fellow Sheffielder in need

Might be worth clarifying that statement I reckon.

Even if times are tough right now - and you really can't spare anything - which is entirely understandable - you can help by just giving the link a share amongst your friends on social media amd messaging platforms.

Thank you again
