A skillful player but too timid and lacked belief to show his abilities. I remember the Kop telling him not to shoot so he didn’t!

Decent. Didn't look like a footballer but had ability.

Would be the best player in our squad now if he was 25. That's for sure.

Not so sure about that.

It would be an interesting thought experiment to swap Petter Rudi out of our 99/2000 squad and swap in Fletcher and see if a bit of extra quality upfront could have saved us.

Or even take out Rudi and put in Iorfa in alongside Des Walker? Iorfa still has a few awkward games in him, but when he's good he really good.

Emerson Thome was better than iorfa t date so that swap wouldn't have got us very far. Fletcher of this season would have been an improvement on De Bilde for sure but Rudi wasn't the reason we got relegated.

He was decent on his day but very hit an miss and couldn't tackle his way out of a paper bag. Smoked like a chimney and liked a night out back then.

Remember him scoring a couple in a 4-1 win at Ewood Park including a header that he was as surprised by as we were.

A regular in a Prem team. Not many of our squad can say that!

True, but sold in December 1999 - another genius move by Wilson/Richards...

He was crap.

He was just big and ran, you’d have got the same result by sticking a Labrador on the wing. Plenty of energy and not a lot else.

Petter Rudi is a very good example of how we broke up what was a very successful side on the early 90’s and replaced some very good players with substandard replacements.

To be fair the writing was on the wall for that season by that point and if he wanted out there was no point in keeping him. We probably got short changed though as Chelsea managed to sell him for a profit a year later despite not playing him that much.

I thought he was a good player but in hindsight was probably a luxury we couldn’t afford.

Certainly not someone to get stuck in but was

decent - owes us nowt put it that way.

Had him on the back of my away shirt. I was torn between him and Alexandersson.

I never knew my dad was such a Rudi fan until that point.

How good he was depends on what you've seen and the era you watched it. I wasn't a fan but he isnt anywhere near as bad as some of the poo ive seen in last 40 yearsyearsl

I thought he was fine, not a match winner by any means but certainly not one of the villains of the piece in terms of our relegation.

Funnily, I remember that he tended to score in games where we beat an opposition by 3 or 4 goals, and it was always one of the later goals when the game was over as a contest. No research has gone into that, simply anecdotal memory.

he was ok - a sort of Carlton Palmer/Reach player who covered a lot of ground, but unlike Palmer didn't look dominant in midfield.

He chipped in with the odd goal, but didn't set the world alight.

He was very very similar to reach . Had some degree of ability but didn’t do a lot and was painfully weak .

Thought he was a decent player, could also be frustrating but I think you can say that about most players. Like most players of that height/build they look awkward at times, which is counted against them.

I was pleased when he signed, he was a good midfielder but like many who donned the famous blue and white he failed to deliver.
He was skillful but his his physical presence was always 2 weeks away.

Brought his talent but left his heart in Norway...he just seemed to stroll  thru games without any real desire when the chips were down  .made his money and buggered off home is how I'll  remember him
