Brilliant beautiful buildings everywhere..

Worked in there for a while. At one point Wetherspoons were interested in it, but fell through during the last recession.

Enormous building, great views from the roof.

Eh?

The end of town that's currently undergoing a multimillion pound project?

It's gonna look amazing when it's done!

I really hope that doesn't end up looking cheap and tacky...

Just a bloke. Being dragged along in a world that moves too quick for it's own good.

And sorry, controversial view here but this whole entire block needs deleting and something more interesting and useful put in it's place, including the O2 Academy

The sheer amount of space that is underused and wasted here is criminal

The 'Sheaf Field Park'(old Castle Market site) plans are in flux at the moment. The original plan for the park and part of the castle recreation doesn't look like it'll come to fruition.

What we do know is that at some point the river culvert has to be removed because it just isn't strong enough to last (one of the main reasons Castle Market was demolished - the culvert could no longer hold the structure above it) and the primary plan is for a park linking the city centre to Victoria Quays. What happens regarding the castle remains and whether we get any sort of recreation of the castle gates just isn't known yet and will depend on a lot of things like funding.

The council are working with stakeholders including the Sheaf and Porter Rivers Trust to get funding (probably through the lottery) to uncover/open out the river and there's a possibility that there will be some kind of water sports (kayaking, etc) involved on the park and junctions of the rivers - and that will be the catalyst for the rest of the park to be built around it..

It'll be a few more years before we see anything though.

Oh, and if you haven't seen my Megatron video yet - why not?

Opposite is one of the best buildings in town

But it's decaying

Sums up most high streets.

Gorgeous building, and underneath, a cash generator and arcade!!
