A major problem in town is that 4 of the major stores are really run down

John Lewis

Debenhams

M & S

Boots

Sheffield town centre could really do with these moving into new buildings

Definitely agree with the Debenhams and John Lewis ones

Where are Boots and M&S?

M&S is halfway down Fargate and Boots is right at the bottom

John Lewis should really be in the shiniest building in town!

Yeah

I'm really not keen on the M&S building on Fargate

It looks similar to the decaying Debenhams building

City centres are increasingly less and less about retail.

Forget what shops are looking like - they are dying. Need to concentrate on filling that gap with leisure, experiences, community hubs, etc.

It's fashionable to attack the council or say things were better in the old days.

It's also true that Sheffield has lost many amazing, beautiful buildings over the years. That's undeniable.

But I have to say the new buildings going up in Sheffield at the moment are fantastic.

They look so clean and tidy and are really well designed

I'm a fan and don't care if it makes me unfashionable to say it

No one can defend the council over the cheese grater carpark. Whoever designed that wants shooting along with All those who voted to pass the planning application. Ugliest building I have ever seen.

Eh?

The end of town that's currently undergoing a multimillion pound project?

It's gonna look amazing when it's done!

TBF that is impressive. I haven't been down that end for a while as I only go down to go to Wilkos.

I knew they were doing some work around Fitzalen Square but didn't know it was on this scale.
