Dexter Morgan
Who out of these was your opinion of the worst full back you have ever seen, been watching the season videos on the YouTube page and it got me thinking, I’ve seen some absolute turd.. Brain Barry Murphy Julian Bennett John Beswetherick Patrick Blondeau (might be harsh) Juan Cobian Simon Coleman Peter Gilbert Mark Reynolds Steve Haslam Ian Hendon Richard Hinds Daniel Jones Jon Otsemabor John Hills Derek Geary (maybe) The good King Worthington Nolan Petrescu Sterland Heckingbottom Hinchcliffe Simek Nillsson Collins Briscoe (maybe) Spurr (meh) Thoughts? elyowl1
Maurice Ross, so bad he went after one game.
Ian
Not sure they were all full backs, more centre backs playing out of position in some places. Also not sure how you get Geary on a list of worst whilst Briscoe is in the best list!
Harrysgame
Blondeau, was stunned when watched him in his 1st game for us. He got turned inside out looked like he had never played professional football. French international etc etc and we unearthed the only one at the time who was inept. Hougoumont
I think you may have inadvertently discovered why we have been cràp for the last 20 years.

Beighton Owl 87
Geary was one of our better players in a truly poo team. Had he not moved on to the blunts I don't think he would be in that list tbh.

matthefish2002
Showing my age a bit but I remember Viv Anderson was awful at full back for us when we first signed him to say he was an experienced international.

John Beswetherick hands down. Id only disagree with a couple on your list... Cobian looked good in his few games (bar the last one). Haslam was a decent footballer was just in at the wrong time. Was a CH too really. Hills was decent at the time we had him and I didn't mind Hendon. Blondeau should have been class but wasn't. Atherton should be in that list he was rubbish in the premier league era. Briscoe should be in the other list but bar that I agree with the good, Nillsson was a class apart. Petrescu was very good.
davethemagicweasel
Briscoe and Spurr on the good list but no Lewis Buxton? Worst for me would be Beswetherwick.

He was absolutely appalling in that pre-season tour that year - supposed premiership quality as you say being completely humiliated away at Exeter - on a par with Beswethericks last game for us. At least JB was only division 4 player of the season when we signed him unlike the French 'international'....
fudge27
Hinds was a solid centre half, think Hills and Gilbert were both more then steady generally too. Used to like Cobian too and Otsemobor was poor originally but became steady. Rest of that list is gash

He was. It was an age thing though. He'd lost his pace. You can't play full back in the head like you can at centre half. He was brilliant at centre half for us. Think his debut was hull away, which he played full back. He was brought in to cover Roland Nilsson when he broke his leg. Anderson was awful that day. We found a winner trying out John Harkes at right back through this.
Guest
Did Greame Lee play there at one point? I knew he played up top for a game too (maybe against Plymouth)
matt68owls
one of my favourites was Ian Bailey, looked like a good player until he broke his leg just before the 83 semi final at Bolton. He was never the same afterwards (not actually sure if he ever played again).
megsonstheman
Palmer would easily fit into the "bad" section.
