Hillsborough at the moment is just a money pit .The ground makes very little revenue from events other than matches and the running costs are expensive, also why does everyone expect that if we were to move it would be a bowl that was built? If we employed a decent architect I'm sure we could come up with something a little different also as people have said Hillsborough is great if you live in the area but can be akward to get to if not at the parking around the ground is awful and getting worse when the new supermarket is opened,  meadowhall would be an option to move to for the transport links and would allow the club to build facilities around the ground aswell such as a bar for the fans and proper club shop and ticket office and different spaces which could be hired out to people like astroturf pitches and the bar on non matchdays plus a hotel for corporate events. Or you move somewhere like where there building the gulliver's kingdom park as you would still get the transport links for m1 and there is still a lot of land in the area that can be built on and it would also have bars and pubs in the area that people could use pre match

A bit like Reading do you mean?

The soulless monstrosity of a football stadium that’s located miles away from the town on an industrial estate next to a motorway that the football fans of Reading don’t see as part of the community and have turned their collective backs on ........ that bit!

I don't think the South stand is a listed building like Arsenal's was but apart from that yeah.

WTF:

Actually you maybe wrong here, Archibald Leach is world famous in terms of his much vaunted gables. Under redevelopment the gable was spared for a lot more than pure novelty !

Ah you could be correct, i was going by the 90s stand facade and totally forgot about the keeping of the original gable which i was so glad they did.

Except it’s not the original and was built from scratch. The Star even asked for votes on which was the preferred option for how the new roof would look.

If we did Ieave it would have to be situated on one of the main road arteries in the city, be bang on a tram route, and have lots of fans in walking distance.

oh, hang on, we have that already.

As far as additional revenue streams is concerned, work it out, it would be a drop in the proverbial. ....

West Ham and Man City had their stadiums paid for by the taxpayer, Spurs moved about 6 inches so was virtually a rebuild, and Arsenal stopped winning titles as soon as they moved.

Sunderlands is great when it’s full, Middlesboroughs is In a dump area, Derbys is ok but in the middle of a retail park as is Boltons.  The Ricoh is used for egg chasers now and was garbage before then. Hulls is crap, etc etc.

Let it drop for gods sake.

Common Sense and 100% correct

1) get into the premier league

2) renovate hillsborough as per the original 2018 world cup plans with further updates

3) Enjoy supporting a fabulous football club in an iconic stadium

We really could have done with those hedges being there at 3:13pm on 16 April 1983.

Why, what happened then?

Really ?

Open spaces/parks are for peoples pleasure, not to build on.

I’m not disagreeing but if you live on the manor how can you have a planning objection to something that’s happening in Hillsborough?

Keep sniffing the glue, the clues in the name Sheffield Wednesday. Moving out of the town has worked wonders for all who’ve done it eh?

Sick of people saying "upgrade to the 2018 WC plans".

Yes they were an improvement on what we have now but pretty pants in all honesty. The Kop concourse was still outside!
