Azerbajan, Land Of Fire - Shirt Sponsor

in his defence he is doing something that no other chairman in my lifetime has done and shown ambition and backed his manager significantly

= He's spaffed MILLIONS

Yet we are in a much worse situation than before

That doesn't make you an admirable or noteworthy chairman as history will testify if he doesn't turn this situation around

Note - I've not even mentioned the EFL charges and potential points deduction yet..

As a chairman you put your trust in a manager/scouts

He gave millions to a cretin - of course the buck stops with him but he was let down massively by who CC purchased

No way should he have allowed us to break the rules but

He gambled like Wolves, they bought good young players with a sell on value

We bought has been no marks who were well past their sell by date

Rewind to before he did that.

Then write down in a piece of paper all of the situation that we are in now

  • Aged, stale squad full of bad attitude players on inflated contracts that are unsellable
  • Fans getting priced out of going to games due to POTG ticket prices
  • Season ticket holders staying away due to results and lack of exciting football/getting hammered all the time
  • Lack of real sponsors at the club
  • Serious decline in corporate activity / investment by companies
  • Team in a worse league position
  • Fans questioning repeatedly some of the shady characters within the football club

etc etc etc

The cost of this to you will be £100 Million+

Take a look at that piece of paper and read the points above again..

1) Would you buy that list of outcomes for £100Million?
2) Would you expect to be praised for sinking your money into that outcome?

3) Would you expect to be challenged by fans for this kind of outcome?

4) Should spending 100 Million pounds plus on that outcome make you a hero?

His money.

My point still stands.

Was anyone moaning when we got to wembley?

Was anyone moaning when we were spending all those millions on Jordan Rhodes and Urby Emanuelson etc?

etc etc etc

Why are you so terrified of people challenging the outcome of Chansiri's investment to date?

I don't understand it

His investment and amount of money spent does not equate to any form of improvement at the football club whatsoever apart from a few improved facilities, nice pitch and new scoreboard.

Get up off your knees and stop worshipping a man just because he has an extraordinary amount of cash.

My point exactly

No one was moaning when we were spending money and riding high.

Now it's all tears and let's blame the man who funded it.

I think you're completely missing the point of performance analysis

You don't assess someone's performance ahead of time, you look back on performance historically and make a judgement at that point surely?

How do you think Chansiri will be judged in the history of this football club from his legacy so far?

Gave us the best years we've had since the early '90s.

Nearly got us promoted in his first wave.

Regrouping for another push.

Success on the pitch, promotion, a more sustainable football club, a hungrier younger squad, more corporate uptake etc etc

He did his best for the highlighted issues but was let down by idiots.

The signing of Rhodes showed how much he relied on these idiots and how these were the wrong people for the club

Off field I’m not sure he can get worse (hopefully)

Performance is a team effort.

Carlos the clueless and the disastrous Jos played a huge part in that.

I do lay the blame on DC about when Cc should have been let go and the Jos appointment.

Really? You really believe that?

Yes. Why not?

When the stadium sale goes through and it will one way or another.

The £60M he has invested in us through this, is now in the war chest for the next push. (£41M over 3 years)

They're still here.

Engrained into the very fabric of the club and impossible to remove

He got rid of one of the idiots - belatedly

He needs very quickly to get rid of the rest

Many supporters thought Rhodes was a good purchase at the time so a lot can’t point fingers without being hypocritical

Not if you're a football fan.

You live for the dream.

You go into each new season having spent money, dreaming of being the Champions or at least top 6.

You are not thinking hmmm maybe at the end of the season our balance sheet might look poorly.

That's exactly my point

You live with hope in your heart going into a season

But afterwards you make an evidenced based analysis on whether or not it's been a success

Same goes for Chairmen.

As it stands, with current performance, this chairman will not go down well in history at all.

I worked in Azerbaijan in 2018. No one there had ever heard of Sheffield Wednesday. When I showed them a picture of the sponsored shirt they were genuinely surprised. When I mentioned Mammadov’s name my interpreter burst out laughing and told me he was no where near as rich as we thought he was.
