In times past the season would have been voided already IMO

In 1914 they finished the season. In WW2 they soon found a way to restart football. Just chill - if it can come back it will. If it can’t it won’t.

I’m guessing they’ll issue match by match Ifollow logins for season ticket holders.

Clever idea, one they have missed from the list, should also ditch the stupid no football lve on tv between 2.45 and  5.15 on Saturdays while they are at it.

Just void the season.

No promotion no relegation. With the greatest respect, it's the simple solution.

I'm sorry for those clubs this effects re promotion, but it is what it is. It's not everyday a global pandemic hits.

Why does football think it's even remotely importent at the moment?

Wednesday ladies have just accepted it even though they were odds on to be promoted this season. They have just said we will do it again next season. This has to be the proper attitude.

Think problem playing behind closed doors will some fans will still show up.

If Leeds need a win last match at a closed Elland Road I bet a 1,000 plus people would be in the car park hoping to get in putting strain on the Police etc.

And the rest. Probably be around 1000 people hanging around outside of any normal match.

for starters appx 50% of players contracts run out on june 30th ,all loans finish in may , I read somewhere clubs would have to extend this seasons contracts , so if you have some waster and we have had plenty on big money and you cant wait for june 30th to come (like we did with abdi for 3-4 years) you would have to give them 2 months more? surely not? . its possible that by july 1st some clubs might only have 3-4 players available due to loans and contracts ending ,all this is driven my money and not common sense . and when would next season start? and what happens if 1 player gets corona virus? that would put that club and other club played on lockdown for 2 weeks plus. if season was scrapped surely no court could touch that ruling based on pubic health and written into football that season must end by a set date.

the other problem with extending contracts is that it puts the players who are out of contract in the driving seat

they know they are needed, we have about 10 out of contract, we cant play games without some of them, and that means they can ask what they want to extend for 2 or 3 months, it could cost a fortune

Can the club arrange for booing to be piped through the loudspeakers at half time , full time, the announcement of Dawson starting and Nuhiu coming off the bench so the players feel at home with no crowds ?

Abandon the 20-21 season finish this one where possible start again in August 21

So for the sake of fitting in 9 matches per club you would have us abandoning a whole season.  One or two clubs might go to the wall as it is but with that suggestion we'd lose dozens.

I believe UEFA have lifted this recently for matches in England and Scotland with the possibility of behind closed doors games completing the season.

I'm not fretting about it either way. More important things than the football. Just discussing that's all.

It will start again sure, I just think it will be a from a fresh start for the reason I stated.

Your last sentence is undoubtedly true.

In other Words..let’s get on with it. Such high level nonsense. They need something more detailed than this.

No doubt Leeds will be in the background saying we’re top of the league, it needs to be played, in light of their finances.

I like the fact the players are to be effectively given a close season now. When there’s the square root of f all to do!

Just void this season, erase it from the records, and hopefully start next season in August.

I see no other way. Sod the EFL, sod SkY, and sod the premier league.

I understand the rationale for the restriction to protect attendances. Why not approve access to UK users through the home teams channel, subject to the POTG or a season ticket price.

For those who can't attend, have the option to view and the home club doesn't miss out on revenue.

Foreign ifollow users already have similar access (albeit not POTG prices) and we can all very quickly see highlights posted on social media now anyway

The EFL really are the most brain dead useless brainlets on earth.

It's as if they have completely forgot their is a global pandemic costing the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, ruining countries economies for years to come. But hey owls v reading, west Brom v Barnsley etc is far more important...maybe the clubs or the players should just refuse to play.

EFL are not fit to run a bath let alone football.

You would think players lawyers would have a field day..Not up to EFL to extend contracts down to the player if he wants to. If not squeaky clean will have tevezgate 're ineligible played etc.

I share many of your sentiments but how does voiding the season mean you can concentrate on fighting coronavirus?

Have heard all professional footballers have joined the St John's, would this help fighting CV19 :-)

They’ve not said that, or anything resembling that. It’s like you think the EFL ramblings are more important than Coronavirus because you’re on here moaning about them. Or John Lewis think curtains are more important because you can still get them delivered. Or your local takeaway think chicken madras is more important because they’re still flogging it.

They’re simply setting out what they’d like to do. There’s no rush to cancel this season - they can wait to see what FIFA initiatives on contracts turn up and whatever else UEFA are plotting. There might only be room for 9 more games between now and next summer - if so may as well finish this season. The transfer window is overrated anyway.

Voiding the season isn’t some noble act that will have the world applauding and allow the Coronavirus vaccine to be discovered. It’s just one of three bad options. They may just be delaying the inevitable but so what?
