Just listened to an interview of his On a podcast. Said during his time at Barnsley we got in touch to ask him to run his contract down at Barnsley, so we could have him On a free at the end of the season . So he joined Villa instead . Typical Wednesday, missed out on a top level player there and for probably a nominal fee !

Crazy. At the time we needed Hourihane more than Winnall.

Aye the reported £60k a week wage at Villa had nothing to do with it at all it was all down to skullduggery by Wednesday

Hourihane would have been a cracking signing, but didn't he cost Villa £3m with only 6 months left on contract? I could understand why we baulked at that.

If I remember right, didn't Barnsley refuse to sell him to us, after their fans kicked off when we got Winnall?

Maybe that's why we then asked him to run his contract down instead???

Derby's equaliser in that horrendous 3-3 capitulation in the year we went down from the prem. You never know, as abject as we were, not having the confidence knocked out of us and taking three points could have been the difference between going down and staying up.

Not saying he is a bad player, and we certainly have worse but Is it just me that thinks he is a tad overrated.

We were crying out for some creativity that season.

So instead of signing Hourihane. We signed Rhodes and Winnall.

Where's the logic in that. You could have signed one creator and a goalscorer, but instead signed two strikers who turned out to be poor anyway.

lol

It’s a shame we didn’t baulk at £3m for Abdi & thrice as much for Rhodes.

It’s a shame Frankie Howard wasn’t our financial advisor.

Nay, nay and thrice and nay would have been the cry.
