What is the earliest footage of Sheffield Wednesday?

Recommended Posts

Probably Jack Palethorpe after 2 mins of the 1935 FA cup final.

When I first started supporting Wednesday footage of the 1935 F.A. Cup final was quite recent!

Certainly my first memory of SWFC on TV.

It's a pity Pathe didn't show the Wednesday "equaliser" as the referee blew for full time!

The 1928 footage reminds me of red button matches

Given that we were one of the leading clubs in the country prior to World War I, it's a little surprising there isn't any earlier footage of us. https://player.bfi.org.uk/search/free?q=football&decade=1900 has footage of quite a few teams prior to the Great War. but not, apparently, us. Of course, we're only talking about a few minutes at most, but still. Anyway, here's another early one:

Putting aside our rivalries with the dark side of Sheffield I find this piece of film very interesting.
Sheffield United v Bury in 1902 at Bramall Lane

Sometime ago I came across this advert for the sale of a film of th 1907 FA Cup Final between Wednesday & Everton ( Advertised April 1907) i the Stage Paper.

That would be a find wherever it is!
