Player you loved that not many did

I liked Pembo too, he had his limitations but he did make some fantastic assists in his time here. Had a sweet left foot on the volley too which added to his goal tally.

Had a great left foot and worked hard too and was very consistent. He would comfortably be our best player now and I think we missed him when we sold him

I remember being desperate for Jeremy Helan to do well with us, he had so many physical gifts that you just felt like a good run to boost his confidence would be enough to make him a top player at this level. Sadly he never quite got there.

Julian Börner is heading into this sort of territory for me. I accept he had a dodgy spell after Christmas (along with the rest of the team) but I love how committed he is, he really would run through brick walls to get us a win.

I might remember this wrong but i thought Helan looked a far better player when on loan (may have been due to playing in a poorer team). He always looked like he had never trained with a ball before! Great Athlete though.

100% agree with the Borner comments.

I thought in his first season especially David Jones was a really underrated player, kept things ticking, but because he never had the flair of Bannan, goals of Lee or big tackles of Hutchinson, he never got the fans onside and was an easy scapegoat the next seasons when it went wrong

I agree, there's always a player in a side who does the tidying up, the breaking up of opponents moves etc, it doesn't really catch the eye but is an important role, these players usually become the scapegoat for fans.

Think he needed a few younger legs around him in midfield Can remember him being a dead ball specialist at Derby and Burnley, taking all free kicks, corners etc, but we didn’t see much of that during his time here

But when you compare him with other players that have played that many games for us he has never played too flight football.

compare him to Des Walker, Peter Atherton, Nigel Pearson all were just better and more consistent.

not as far back Miguel Liera, a less player but just better in every department. Looven of 5 years ago, Lees could not tie his boots.

lees for me is good along side someone better more experience or a born leader, but he is never a leader himself and the biggest mistake we made was making him captain. He has been crap ever since.

Make Borner captain and we might see Lees form improve.

Didn’t realise players have to play in the Premier League to be appreciated.

Julian Borner captain... why? Because he has a song? Not been anything special.

A lot of players mentioned on here that WERE well loved........Graham Hyde being one.

Graham Hyde is my all time favorite player, he was so underated if he had played for one of the golden clubs i.e Liverpool, Man Utd etc he would easily of had an England cap.

Julian Watts

Didn't really love him & I'm sure no one hated him.

Year above us at school, mad seeing a kid you went to school with play at Hillsborough for the Owls.

I don't think Ive really got the gist of this thread have I? :duntmatter:

Helen’s pace was on another level, he wasn’t the best footballer but his pace made him a worthy squad player.

In the 2015/16 season he was very effective off the bench for Carlos. And he played really well against Arsenal in the cup.

Had a few good games. But was completely the wrong signing at the time.
