Is that really how you see this? SWFC are a British company with British staff and are well within their rights to claim what is on offer. Furthermore the owner has agreed to cover the wage difference to ensure that the staff will receive their full pay during this difficult period which I can imagine has come as a relief to many of them. I was being deliberately contrary but the fact remains that a man that has frequently complained that he is not permitted to spend his own money, so presumably he can readily afford to pay his staff wages, has taken the opportunity to push a significant % of it onto the UK taxpayer. As a business we are losing significant amounts of money year on year and he can't just throw money at things like this in accounting terms. I am sure there are businesses with better balance sheets than our football club who have taken up this offer and decided not to make up the 20% difference. owlsup Posted March 31, 2020 Share Posted March 31, 2020 At present the rules about furloughed staff mean those who who are engaging in, or potentially engaging, generating revenues cannot be put in that position. Non playing staff are not doing this. The EFL have not called the season off so playing staff are still training...so they are not in a position to be furloughed.... It is not just POTG source of income that will have been affected by this. Read the accounts, the business is losing money. Many other more profitable businesses will have taken the offer.
