It also mentions the players in average salary of £40k a week have currently taken no pay reductions. Wouldn't expect anything less from someone who, in a time of national crisis, was recently trying to get us to believe that Sports Direct are something like the 4th emergency service ffs. As for DC, not his biggest fan but credit where its due - Nice one.
room0035
I have to say well done to DC, for looking after none playing staff. As for the playing staff up and down the country I won't say what I think of you.

None playing staff guaranteed their full wage - to be reviewed at the end of April? Think they are facing criticism as the are epl club and therefore rich, so they shouldn't use the government money. My thought is that at least they are retaining people.

The lack of anything from every one of the 91 league teams is more than a bit embarrassing. It is good of the club to save the others staff the full 100% of their salaries, but what the likes of Newcastle have done today is a disgrace. I think footballers are starting to be seen for what they are and after this is all over I hope they are not held with the same status that they once had. I really don't understand this kind of thinking. How much of your wage are you giving up for the betterment of others at your work? Just not bothered... Newcastle is owned by Mike Ashley though who wanted to raise the prices at his Sports Direct stores to take advantage of his decision that they were eessential shops. Spiv. Shouldn't be surprised really.

So you don't understand people on low income getting paid with the help of the government scheme but footballer on 20, 30 or some more times what these people on getting paid their full wages. I make it simple Furlough the whole first who currently cannot do their job, put them all on £2,500 a month. Save the clubs millions each month so the other staff at the club's can get full pay. DC has done right by the other staff but other clubs in the country wont.

room0035
Barcelona players have taken a 70% pay cut so non playing staff still get paid in full and to help the club. Thank God at least one group think of others. Think what you want, i just think people will have a very different view of their footballing gods and idols when this is all over.

Many of these lads have made sacrifices to get where they are and most are often only to happy to help their fans. Rather these lads got the opportunity than kids born with a very big silver spoon in their mouth Perhaps the families of those born with a silver spoon in their mouth worked hard enough to ensure their future generations had the best of things. There is a balance to be found, especially with players reportedly earning more in a month than some do in a lifetime.
