Was on the north and after the match started a rain of coins and loads of other stuff came raining down on us . A load of Chelsea at the back so a load of coppers just ran up and dragged them down the steps while getting . . . . err . . . . pats on the back on their way past all the rows and thrown into the away end . I just remember thinking this is insanity , now when's the next match Weird how in those days you could go in the opposites team's end, cause chaos then get escorted by the police to the area where the rest of your fans were but not get arrested or even thrown out. Wrightyowl
Leeds sometime in the mid 90's. Was in their big stand with a few Leeds mates. Whispered under me breath 'go on Hirsty' when he went on a run. Honestly, whispered it, inaudible. You know when zombies smell blood on the telly, even though you've got a bandage on, it was a bit like that. I've still got dints in the back of me head. I remember being in the crush at Grimsby on Boxing Day 1983 and always remember the kid in the programme seller kiosk's face when it almost toppled over, after the gates burst open, the gates burst open too at Oakwell in a crush outside the turnstiles before the night game in 1981, also at Millmoor one night match I remember a kid was stood upright next to me 'passed out' in the crush on that away end, then Leicester city away at Filbert Street 1981 my feet never touched the floor coming out, I nearly got split in half in a very delicate area as there was a barrier partitioning the exit stairwell, Chester City away 1979 someone set fire to some rubbish under the wooden terracing and the fire brigade turned up .... lot's of close calls back then considering incidents that happened a few years later. I could have written this as I was at most of these games. Grimsby was particularly scary when the gates went down. I had the same experience at Filbert Street in 1982 when we won 2-0 after one of the very few great defensive performances I've seen by Wednesday with absolute carnage when we (Shelton IIRC) scored the second in the last minute. The Luton game mentioned in the thread on TC got a bit hairy outside as they bricked our coaches.....then their tw@t of a chairman banned away fans, as though their fans were angels
