@owlstalk
The Championship top six are preparing to take legal action should the Premier League declare the season ‘null and void’ according to Football Insider. Premier League chiefs are concerned regarding a £170million lawsuit which West Brom and Leeds will push for should the scenario happen. The Championship sides would face huge financial turmoil which could cost them around £200million should the season be void and this is a major consideration as ruling bodies prepare to meet this week. The top six in the division will miss out on promotion and in turn face financial implications for which they could seek to gain financial compensation. Leeds and West Brom are well clear at the top of the Championship with nine matches remaining and could make legal moves against the Premier League as well as Fulham and other sides involved in the promotion race. That possibility will be discussed later this week at an emergency meeting of the Premier League on Thursday. Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear made clear yesterday that it is his club’s preference for the Championship programme to be completed. “From our perspective, we think it is vital that it is completed,” Kinnear told Sky Sports News. “I think there is a growing sense across the football family that that is the right thing to do.” Owlstalk Shop

darklord
How will Leeds and Brom face hardship for not going up. If they were sat in 7th they would face the same financial hardship
handworth52
it will come down to 2 things . 1 when paramedic cover is allowed again(surely not for a very long time) 2nd the season would have to finish by june 30th as that's when player contracts run out ,loans run till may . you cant have a season running into july ,aug for simple reason a lot of players will have already agreed to sign for someone else on july 1st ,then it will be a league based with different players . so 100% im sure that unless the season didn't restart by mid may at latest then season couldn't complete ,then the next problem if playoffs would have to be scrapped . its the government what made the decision so surely no lawsuit could be brought against efl? MaliceInBlunderland
Apart from the fact that there are far more important non footballing matters to worry about at the moment, just remind me again how many of these clubs have actually already won promotion as we speak? Any one of them could miss out on promotion if the season were to be resumed. Maybe they should actually win something before moaning about it being taken from them. Silkstone Owl
This saga isn’t done for 3 months, never mind 4 weeks unless football clubs want to finish the season in the summer I can only see one option

Bulldog
More supposition and guesswork - a bit like the Hull City none-story - without any hard facts. It's going to get a lot worse as these people have no actual football to write about.
andytrig
Hopefully this will either be the wake up call that football needs to address the financial disparity or cause it to implode. Read today that the premier league will be in breach of contract with Sky and BT sport if the season doesn't finish which could affect the future earnings of the premier league clubs. kilnhurstowl
This pandemic has shown football up for what it really is , and that's money. Clubs are more bothered about money than safety of players and fans. So so sad. 1
catdog1121
Can we sue as well, clearly the time away will give monk the time to turn the team into a wonder team, we obviously would have won all 9 league games, got into the playoffs and then cruised into the prem... We should be due some compensation too... By the way I was not being serious...

Harrysgame
Joke, biggest crisis in generation and some football iclubs are only thinking of the money. If PL don't relegate because season is void then no room to move up. The PL could even think to themselves you know what, ok we will pay you off and by the way from now on no promotion or relegation as we have enough clubs and TV money moving forward. Mosborough-owl
Someone is going to lose out. It’s not gunna be fair on some people.. but I’m afraid clubs are just going to have to take a hit and just put it down to A Very unfortunate Situation. There’s more to life than football. Everyone in life is going to be affected in one way or another. We can’t all claim and sue.

Animis
Leeds CEO referring to Football Family is the funniest and ironic thing in that statement. There is no family, unless he means a dysfunctional one, and he should know, 'we all hate Leeds' 'Right thing to do' - what a clown.
