We can’t afford to let Monk rebuild our squad.

Recommended Posts

Simple. He wasted £40 million at boro trying to rebuild there squad by only signing players that his agent also managed. We’ve been down that road far too often.

Not forgetting the dull boring football Monk seems to like.

If if we stay up, the summer is our best chance for a few years to rebuild the squad. First job is to get the right man in charge.

I wouldn’t worry about that anyway.
whoever is in charge will have zero money available.

Unfortunately we are fizzed even if we stay up. If we sack Monk, any new manager will give that shower of shiitte a clean slate, when we definitely need to get rid. If we keep Monk, we have manager so inept, he actually rates Da Cruz as a football player.

We need a clean slate. Somebody with a footballing philosophy who knows what he wants and how he’s going to get it. More importantly that manager needs the complete trust and support off his chairman.
This club is desperately lacking in direction but whilst ever Chansiri is seemingly hell bent on doing things via agents with questionable ethics we are marooned with journeymen fresh off the merry go round looking for the next pay day....who knows one day we might strike it lucky though the odds are against it.

Even for little money, da cruz must be 1 of worse sinings ever made, by anyone.  Offers absolutely zero, its as bad as playing with 10 men.

Yet he started today with ff on bench, this alone shows how clueless gm is.

Added to that windass who looks lg 1, clean thru today and miskicked it, theres no way gm should get another window, let alone make it to then.

Even if he had good players he wouldn't know what to do with them, the da cruz of managers, offers precisely zero, with or without money to waste

Ayling, Jansson, Roofe, Hernandez and Bartley at Leeds? Not bad signings.

The problem is he doesn’t sign the players. He’s said he “gives his opinion”. Who ever the manager is this summer the same players will come through the door because they don’t decide.

Fair point if he signed those for Leeds.

And another good point afterwards. We really are in a mess.

The more I think about it, I don't believe Monk has much say in what goes on with our transfer dealings.

So from that viewpoint, Monk will never be in a position to rebuild a squad in the way we think it should, as in the manager choosing which player to go for and which positions need sorting.

Recruitment will be done and done solely by the very same people that is stuffing that owl in that cartoon.

Listening to Monks interview a couple of days ago, he did state that the recruitment process at Hillsborough, with input from him, the recruitment team and the finance department, is the same as what happens at the majority of clubs. He didn't sound as though he was unhappy with the process.

The process might well be the same or considered normal for clubs at this level but it doesn't mean that the personnel in that process are good in comparion to other teams. Recruitment has been pretty disastrous for us over the years no matter how its been conducted and by who. But its the 'who' that matter. Not that we'll ever get to know.

You're probably right about the quality of the personnel, j was just commenting on the fact that the recruitment process is common place at most clubs.
