But FFP doesn’t stop any spending on stadium.

TBH I was referring more to the regard in which we are still held by many supporters of other clubs. We have been so wrapped up in how bad things have been over the last 2/ years that we tend to forget that we are still regarded as one of the traditional elite of English football by means other clubs fans and also the position of Hillsborough as one of the best traditional stadiums in the country.

Nostalgia from opposition fans will gradually fade as they get older and football changes. For these fans, Hillsborough's like a day out at a museum of football days gone by.

As has been said, DC can invest into the ground without breaching FFP but he either doesn't have the long-term plan; the cash; the interest or he sees our future elsewhere.

to get that so wrong, just kills the article

His point is that no one is going to invest in the stadium if they can’t also spend on getting top players/manager to get into the top flight. The two go hand in hand is his point, it’s not that he doesn’t understand FFP.

we can spend as much as we like on developing the club generally.

just not on player wages and transfer fees. Why don’t we build the best academy in the north?

wouldnt provide instant results but would in the long term.

Exactly this, was about to write something similar. FFP, if it is going to work at all, has to be more progressive and not some draconian coverall which condemns teams like us to be trapped in some vicious never ending circle.
