Can we see that every week?

Recommended Posts

Obviously not the 1-0 mauling or the lack of any real interest in going forward from the manager...

But the team keeping its shape, every player giving it everything and not letting our heads drop when things go against us. Its all the fans ask and would see us remaining a Championship side next season.

A big part of me thinks, why can't we work so hard every game? But I'd rather just praise the effort tonight and tell the players that if you keep that up for the rest of the season, then we'll back you 100%

Listen Man City are capable of ragging any team in the world and I expected us to lose ... probably more heavily than by 1 goal ... but it's a foookin one off cup match FFS!

Let's at least throw off the caution and try and score a flippinggoal.

Monk is a total embarrassment to his profession ... He's absolutely sh*t scared of committing anyone forward.

Why he left that da Cruz on instead of FF god only knows.

Pelupessy ... hahahahaha ... Never ever has he been a footballer.

Well done Wildsmith, Iorfa and Palmer.

Roll on summer when we can unload Monk.

Iorfa was man of the match for me.

That match just summarised how many light years, even decades we are behind.

If the game was played until the end of May we wouldn't score.

I've been to England games against the likes of Andorra. Tonight i witnessed the other end of the scale. If you were entertained or enjoyed that then fair play. Not for me.

Let's see if there's still the same passion away at Brentford.

The fizz you on.  Any team top five in championship would have drilled us.

City clearly coasted the entire match.

Can't believe all the negative comments we played well tonight and I hope it can continue.

Disagree.  We rode our luck and looked as inept and toothless as usual, save for a miracle 7 min stretch.

I'm glad Hunt got more run, FF showed workrate, Bannan made an impression, but other than that? Real anonymity

The players applied themselves for 90mins, stuck to the task and didn't let their heads drop. I don't think I've seen them do that since Christmas.

You can criticise the plan itself, but in the form we are in, playing against one of the top footballing sides in Europe, I think it probably made at least some sense.

I'd like to think you are bright enough to realise that we wouldn't set up like that against any team in the Championship.

We set up to avoid humiliation and achieved that. We knew that if we'd thrown men forwards we'd have been hammered then the same posters and tweeters moaning that we were negative woyod have been moaning we were too gung ho.

I was expecting a heavy defeat. I didn't really want to go if I'm honest. I had the little un Google record FA Cup scores on the way in. The players worked hard and put a shift in. Man City hammer teams regularly, we defended well and applied ourselves. Anyone who went last night expecting us to take the game to em and roll em over hasn't watched us all season. Monk was in a no win situation. Chances are we'd lose, was just a case of how. If you'd have offered me that performance and result at 7.45 I'd have taken it, that's how sure I was that they'd put 8 past us.

You mean looking massively second best against a team going through the motions

This.

There is no way we were going to outplay one of the best teams in the world.

We needed luck to progress through this tie. We got some with the form of Wildsmith and the woodwork but didn't get that lucky break when we got into final third of the pitch. To have won, this was the only way to play and hope for that luck. Any other way would have meant a hammering.

Well done to the players for their hard work and not allowing City to score a FA cup record.

We were in with a chance, even if slight, right to the end.

I know that I preferred this than it being all over in 20 minutes.

Absolutely agree we were second best but I don't agree that City were going through the motions, certainly not until they scored.

Yes why can't they? In not like they to get up every morning with the realisation that they have to perform for 8 hours for a bunch of bosses they despise , longing for the next weekend & holiday booked. Which is the reality for most of in the real world. There's no excuse for not putting the effort in, they're privileged people.

I’ve never been more embarrassed after last night, anyone who takes anything close to a positive from that has been sniffing coke

I feel every other team in the championship would have given it more of a go then us. 1 bloody shot all game which IIRC was a blocked attempt. No more than 2 passes out together. 20% possession when in all honesty it felt like about 5%, it was utterly humiliating. And the pre match video on us was equally depressing. If anything told us that we’re stuck in the 90s just watch that video, then the cameras turned to the soulless stadium.

Just all in all a horrid night
