He was happy to sit on the bench, waiting for his turn, as he did for the Forest and Bristol City games.

Then Monk decided he was done. Worked out well didn’t it, but Monk knows what a successful dressing room looks like apparently

How did that end for Jos. Just remind me.

Continues to have rapport with his team mates, who since Westwood got told he was for the chop, seem to have lost a bit of focus.

When you’re close as a squad, as we were, then the manager starts to swing the axe, it can sometimes have a detrimental effect. People wonder who is next.

Brilliantly handled by Monk. Well done fella. Bravo.

Next time, tell them when the season is over and we’re safe.

Fingers crossed there won't be a next time either here or anywhere else. Not only destroying team morale he's dividing the fan base and emptying the stadium.

There will be more rumours coming from this statement than it was supposed to deal with

No falling out so why isn't he playing because lets face it, Dawson isn't fit to lace his boots.

Loads of fans wanted Westwood out of the net when he was dropping clangers week in week out.

Players to the fans seem to turn world class when they're not playing. Lets be honest, Westwood has been dreadful this season when he's played, which is why he was dropped.

Because Monk made a decision earlier in the season and he's either too proud or too stubborn to change it.

Look lets be fair he has been  a good player for us but his best days are behind him.

Time to move on.

Westwood coming out with a statement supporting Monk (Or at least saying he respects his decision) was not something I expected.

Quite liked the image of dressing rooms busts up but seems it was just a footballing decision by Monk.

You want the truth?

You can’t handle the truth.

Bottom line, don’t believe in rumours.

Just start them and put them in the Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread, now available in the Matchday section.

lol

Westwood wasn't playing particularly well, this is true. And was rightly replaced by Dawson. Now Dawson's not doing well, it should open the door for someone else. That's the entire point of having a squad.

Well maybe that puts to bed, all those theories about Monk being undermined.

Supporting is a massive stretch.

Seems Westwood's been told he's not going to be picked, no matter what.
Tick another box in Monk's manual of awful management.
Westwood doesn't have much option but to respect the decision, fair play to him for setting the record straight.

Makes you wonder about Hutch too.

So basically what happened is...

Monk decided Westwood’s best days were behind him and wanted to move forward with Dawson

Westwood found himself a move and it didn’t happen at the last minute

Monk stuck to his guns and is moving forward with the future (btw, it’s extremely normal for players deemed surplus to requirements to play with the 23s)

Westwood has been told he is free to leave in Summer and will not play a part.

Out of respect for Westwood, Monk isn’t going to make him travel and train with the first team when he has zero chance of a future career here

Owlstalk made stuff up

Dawson’s Form went off a cliff and now Monk has made a rod for his own back.

So, essentially...we’re saying Monk has messed up and needs Dawson to get back on track ASAP

Well that statement sounds like a goodbye.

What a player he is aswell.

Definitely not easy to replace someone of his calibre.

Good luck to him with that new club he invested in.

See thiiii x

Makes very clear that it was a decision by Monk...

His wages cost around £2m per year. We’d be better off letting him go free just have him of the wage bill.

How does it?

it doesn’t say anything whatsoever!

Are you any clearer whatsoever after reading that what the problem is?

is it because Monk thinks he’s a bad character in n the dressing room? Doesn’t rate him? Etc etc

it does nothing to clear any of it up at all yet people still jump to conclusions and read something that isn’t there.

It does sound like he's not expecting to be picked any time in the near future. Regardless of how many mistakes Dawson makes...

Fair play to him for putting out the statement.

My concern now is, Dawson doesn't have anyone pushing him for his place and his form recently hasn't been good.

Agree it reads like a farewell and if that's the case, good luck KW in what ever you move onto.

You can’t just let somebody go for free and then not honour your legally binding contract to pay them!

We currently have Rhodes, Westwood, Hutchinson and Winnall not making or being considered for the match day squad.

That’s probably over 100k a week in wages not even making it into the squad

I don't think Monk would sideline Westwood for footballing reasons, it wouldn't make sense.  Even if he is done at the end of the season we are paying him a fortune and he should be on the bench or playing and training with the first team.  The statement by Westwood is a load of BS and designed to undermine Monk even further imo.  Not that I am particularly defending Monk, I think his man management is poor.
