Sefton owl
Yes he’s a young kid and was showing some grit early on in the game but making a rash, needless challenge whilst already on a yellow is frankly something that shouldn’t be applauded. We were dross again today but at 1-0 down any team with 11 men on the pitch have a chance of a draw or even a win. Ridiculous some of our fans.
jonnyowl
First challenge was never a yellow! It was his first foul!

Even so, the fact he’s on a yellow card (warranted or not) should determine his future tackling in the game.
Mr Farrell
EFLs fault. That said, DC promised if we paid Premier league prices, we wouldn't have to throw the kids to the lions. Why did you lie to us DC ?
steelcityowlsfan
Yeah can’t believe we didn’t berate him and destroy the lads confidence. FFS. 4 1
Kopparberg
He’s a good lad, he wants to get get stuck in but ultimately that ended the game. It seems he needs some time to develop before being in the first team. (Reading players not getting booked is a separate argument).
Guest mkowl
Because he was a young lad who had just messed up. He played ok first half as well. It was rash and he will learn the hard way. But he was hung out to dry by the players which was bad to see. Credit Borner for doing the right thing. Monk just ignored him, not good
Owl 44
Think they just felt sorry for him to be honest. He looked devastated. That could really destroy his confidence. I desperately wanted someone to go and put an arm around him which Borner did until the physio finally got to him.
OhForAnotherShez
Applause would be for a young kid, inexperienced who would have felt awful as it was. What did you want? Slaughter, and complete lack of confidence in the future?

The challenge on Harris which was sly no booking - almost the same place as well. Refs definitely on message with the EFL
TodwickOwl
Absolutely unbelievable Clapping a lad off who on a yellow goes and lunges in Hes not 12, he’s in first team - should know better. That’s not forgiving how dreadful he is too - awful
Justbeanz
He shouldn't have been exposed in the first place. It was always going to be toxic today. 1
Stoop
I clapped him off More in a ‘keep your chin up lad’ kind of way, the last thing we need is to crush a young lad at the start of his career Also he made two fouls in the game and the “referee” couldn’t wait to book him on both occasions, where was the ‘next time your off’ chat? 3
The only way is S6
Supporting a young lad at his lowest point. Is it really that bad? I clapped cos I felt sorry for him & he clearly got injured when he did it. He’s not the real reason anybody’s pssd off now is he?

Serious? Theyre two bookings - pulling at someone’s legs and a challenge from behind Theyre not niggly fouls
theowlsman
It was always a strong possibility he’d get sent off after that first needless yellow, and Monk should’ve protected him, and the team, by subbing him before it happened, Edited February 15, 2020 by theowlsman

Refs definitely on message with the EFL His first booking was outrageous, in an innocuous area of the pitch and a debatable free kick (wet surface not taken into account), and the player wasn't running through on goal was he ! Then Harris sprinting away dwon the left hand side charged unfairly off the pitch, no yellow, how is that consistent ? The second was a foul but not malicious and he got a foot on the ball. Terrible referreeing , fooled time and time again. I applauded his attitude and was telling the ref, you got that wrong.

The Hoppy Hopper
I don’t usually clap a player who has been sent off. Today I made an exception, felt it was was an honest mistake from an inexperienced player. I suppose I felt a bit sorry for him.
