Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2020-2021

I won’t get too excited about Dele Bashiru, he fits the bill of that physical midfield player we’ve missed for such a long time. But he’s young and god know if he actually has any ability.

If we can pick up Windass on a free he’d be a decent acquisition. Jackson Irvine would be perfect too.

Norwich won't get the same parachute payment package as Watford & Bournemouth as they were only up there for one season. But, they have so many saleable playing assets to get themselves a war chest.

They get the same as Bournemouth and Watford for the next 2 seasons. £43M in the first season, £36M second. It's just the 3rd season payment of £16M they won't get because they haven't been in the Premier League for more than one consecutive season.

Obviously if they get promoted back within 2 seasons that won't matter.

Norwich for the last few years have made some decent money selling player Maddison the Murphy brothers, Redman, Brady.

They got themselves a good manager in who with good youth players developed a free flowing style of play and improved year on years. They get promoted surprisingly and get £100m for finishing last then £40m for the next 2 -3 season. They have just built a state of the art academy too.

Norwich may yo yo for a season or two, then they will stay up because they are doing it the right way, as are Brentford, Preston and Bristol City (if they get the right manager).

We are a millions years behind these teams, we will once again be under restriction on the budget next season and probably the next 2 or 3 because of one play-off final visit and appalling recruitment for the 12 months after that. The next 4-6 weeks will set out the club for the next 2-4 years.

Of those 4 well run teams you mention 3 have never made the PL as yet and the other has just been relegated after 1 season.

Norwich may very well go back up but there’s a chance they won’t & could languish back in the champ for a few seasons - or worse.

Its tough getting up to the PL, very tough, so when you get there - get a truck of money dumped on your doorstep - then as a club they have an obligation to their fans to invest some of that money into the squad in an attempt to stay there. You don’t have to “splash the cash” but you need to spend a damn sight more than a million.

All 3 team I mention other than Norwich have built a good network of scout to find lower league players develop them and sell them on at profit or develop their own team or they have invested in good young players. I never said they were anything other than teams that are improving in the right direction.

In modern football very few none former premiership teams can simply spunk millions and get promoted, Forest have been doing the spend a load take the pain the season after approach and it does not work. We had one go at promotion in 2015/16 and 5 season later we are still in a financial mess.

You need to build a solid base at your club either by developing youth or bringing in lower league players,/free agents and developing them into better players.

The soon the power that be at our club realise this the better we will become.

On the Norwich not throwing money at it debate. Leeds ended up throwing everything at it when they qualified for the CL. It’s took them 16 years to get back to the big league. I’d rather do it the Norwich way and probably Brentford will do it similar.

I agree that their set-up is brilliant, but I don't think they will be back in the premier any time soon. They are a poor team who will lose their best 2 or 3 players and I expect them to be down near the bottom of the championship next season, possibly relegated.

Harry is the last person we need. He’ll insist on spending and woo DC around to the ideas. We need to be a bit more savvy.

Crikey yeah, I meant we need to wheel and deal, and be a bit proactive in restructuring the squad It’s no good just sitting there and saying, we’ve had no offers for our players, something we’ve said in the past

Derby have issued a statement after failing to agree a new deal with Chris Martin. There's our Fletcher replacement/Nuhiu upgrade. Go get him DC.

This x1000

We need to create value in our team and build around it. Hope with New recruitment policy that we finaly realized this and will give this way of thinking a chance.

Think Brentford are the great example of doing things right. Even losing their manager and key players doesn’t seem to knock them off their year on year progress

Yes they have a blueprint, they recruit players and hire coaches who will work with those players. Swansea used to have a similar set up. The approach avoids the issues we are currently facing.
It’s ironic, as that is what Mr Chansiri wanted to put in place when Carlos was hired. Since then though, our appointments have been all over the place, like our player recruitment
