Might still happen? Grant's now moved to West Brom from Huddersfield, I think. They'll still want rid of Zohore and he needs to move to play. If not, it's probably why we're looking at the likes of Gregory and Marriott too.

But, according to The Mail, any hopes Zohore had of joining Garry ‘the Striker Whisperer’ Monk at Sheffield Wednesday have gone up in smoke.

GARY THE FUCKINGSTRIKER WHISPERER???  THA WOT?

:duntmatter:

Think they meant 'the Striker - ghost whisperer' as our strikers, goals and attacking threat as mostly been non existent, especially at home :duntmatter:Monkmanface:ghoulguy:

You only have to look the teams who have been promoted in recent years from League 1, to realise a backwards step to rebuild is what we need.

Leicester, Southampton, Brighton, Leeds, Norwich, Wolves, Sheffield United, Bournemouth....

Not sure that Unitedites would agree that their six seasons in L1 was the making of them. Wilder did that.

Cardiff agree a deal to sign Harry Wilson, Swansea and Bristol City will rival them before the deadline. Surprised Cardiff have that sort of money.

MailOnlineSport are saying: Liverpool winger Harry Wilson's set to join Cardiff City on season-long loan with Reds seeking £3m fee after Swansea had bid rejected for the Welsh international winger. It's understood Liverpool want around £3m for the loan with penalty payments if Wilson fails to play a certain amount of games.

Hope it’s not the £3m we are giving them for Flint🙁

That would be even crazier than their agreeing to a loan deal with penalty payments. Albeit for a quality player for this level. Considering that we could get the likes of Sanderson or Clarke-Salter instead or it could be better off spent on getting in a number 9 or suitably replacing Murphy.

But what you are advocating is planning for League One now, are you suggesting all of those clubs did that?

They all had different routes to get where they are at now and I'm not sure any of them thought about writing off a whole Championship season in order to rebuild from the 3rd division.

Its a reality check ain't it.

Carrying players on silly wages who aren't contributing, your hand gets forced and you start rebuilding

We can have a wake up call without getting relegated - a 12 point deduction should be enough to 'wake us up'!

Do you not think we are moving away from paying big wages?

Middlesbrough are trying to snap up Everton winger Yannick Bolasie before the domestic window shuts, according to Sky Sports News

Completely forgot about him. Skillful player but too often made the wrong decisions, not a typical Warnock signing.

A number of top flight clubs are looking at bringing in goalkeepers from the Championship, which could leave a few Championship clubs in need of goalkeepers too. I wonder if that merry-go-round, might see someone come in for Westwood on deadline day?

You get clubs that are in the Champions League bring in a third choice British keeper to put in their Champions League squad so that they can add an extra foreign player. Chelsea did it with Ross Turnbull a few years ago and Manchester United and City did it with Lee Grant and Scott Carson.

Only problem is Westwood ain’t British!!

To reset in this league, you need a big sale.

For example QPR's sale of EZE, that will make QPR such a stronger team all over the pitch, in time to come, if invested correctly. (20m+)

Ollie Watkins, Brentford are secure for years to come (33m)

Jude Bellingham, Birmingham will be stronger (21m)

Ben Godfrey, Norwich to Everton (25m)

We haven't got anything like this.

How will it be better for us to go down then? How will we reset and come back to this league stronger?

The examples you previously referred to did not get stronger instantly based on going down to the 3rd division.

Even half the examples in this post don't prove your point - Norwich aren't looking for a reset as they have parachute payments and are relatively strong anyway as they are now, Brentford aren't resetting anything, they are continuing on a path they have been followong for some time.

Watkins and Godfrey came from Leagues 1 & 2 along with Grant who's just gone for £15M. That's where we need to find some gems, and develop them, something we just don't do.
