Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2020-2021

Recommended Posts

A four year contract for someone who is 28 is a very big commitment with the only pay back being getting to the Premier League.

All in , including the fee probably pushing 4-5 million at least.

Kind of deal which got us into trouble.

But if the fee is split over 4 years then it becomes do-able at our level.

It's standard for the transfer fee to be split equally between each year of the contract. Judging by our recent activity, I suspect at this point a transfer fee in the region of £4-5m as suggested above is well beyond our means.

AITOR KARANKA HAS BOLSTERED BLUES STRIKER OPTIONS BY SIGNING SCOTT HOGAN FROM ASTON VILLA ON A PERMANENT TRANSFER.

Hogan has penned a four-year deal, for an undisclosed fee.

Hogan, 28, returns to the St. Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium following a successful loan spell last season.

28? Christ 😲 how times fly, doesn't seem 2 minutes since he was a youngster.

It’s a big commitment unless you get promoted.

His wages will be significant as he is still under contract at Villa.

The reason for the 4 year contract is so he will probably take less money for the longer deal but won’t be peanuts.

If he stays fit and plays plenty of games it’s not too bad but if, like our similar buys, he becomes injury prone it’s a millstone round your neck.

The press over in Lancashire seem to think we’ve rekindled our interest in James Garner, and now rejoin the long list of Championship clubs looking to take him on loan

Well this is what monk had to say to Dom Howson in this mornings interview

“It is still ongoing. Nothing imminent on that.

We are in daily communication with the recruitment team.

There is nothing imminent as we speak.”

seems like that’s all that’s been said lately. I just want ya to be linked with someone ... anyone 😂

Says his moves to Coventry and Huddersfield have fallen through. With us and Swansea now putting offers on the table.

If so I’m quite optimistic. Swansea have a top top player in Matt Grimes who is a similar type too Garner. On top of that they’ve got Morgan White Gibbs, Korey Smith and Jay Fulton and only play a 2 in the middle. We on the other hand don’t have a Garner type.

If Swansea are in for him then I don’t share your optimism... he’s played under Cooper before for England U17s which could tip the balance in their favour

Beginning of the summer I’d have had no optimism. But Man U and Garner’s decision will be made based on his chances of playing, which, in my opinion he will have a better chance here than Swansea as they have 4 very good options in CM, 2 of which have just signed and another is club captain.

Maybe but that's the way it is, I know they are doing everything possible to get deals finalized but it is very complicated, players, agents, clubs, everything has got to be right.

We don’t need a centre mid. We have Brown (Dele), Bannan (Hunt), Luongo (Pelupessy). Easily enough options and I want these young lads getting game time as both have potential especially Dele Bashiru.

1 striker

1 wing back (either side)

Thats all we need. I’d like a keeper but Monk loves our two so a pointless discussion.

Not sure that we do need another couple of wingbacks unless one goes out as we have Penney, Palmer, Moses, Harris, at a push Reach  or Van aken and maybe some of the youngsters as well. Not perfect but not as desperate as our need for another centre forward to balance the squad and provide alternative attacking options if we need a goal

I think we need more depth in CM personally. Yes it isn't the top priotity but if a player becomes available then you take the opportunity. What happens if Luongo can't stay fit again and Bannan gets an injury or suspension.

Unfortunately 2 of our current midfielders, Brown and Luongo seem to pick up injuries quite easily. If a player like Garner becomes available I would be very happy to get him in.
