A four year contract for someone who is 28 is a very big commitment with the only pay back being getting to the Premier League.

All in , including the fee probably pushing 4-5 million at least.

Kind of deal which got us into trouble.

But if the fee is split over 4 years then it becomes do-able at our level.

It's standard for the transfer fee to be split equally between each year of the contract. Judging by our recent activity, I suspect at this point a transfer fee in the region of £4-5m as suggested above is well beyond our means.

It’s a big commitment unless you get promoted.

His wages will be significant as he is still under contract at Villa.

The reason for the 4 year contract is so he will probably take less money for the longer deal but won’t be peanuts.

If he stays fit and plays plenty of games it’s not too bad but if, like our similar buys, he becomes injury prone it’s a millstone round your neck.

Well this is what monk had to say to Dom Howson in this mornings interview

“It is still ongoing. Nothing imminent on that.

We are in daily communication with the recruitment team.

There is nothing imminent as we speak.”

seems like that’s all that’s been said lately. I just want ya to be linked with someone ... anyone 😂

The press over in Lancashire seem to think we’ve rekindled our interest in James Garner, and now rejoin the long list of Championship clubs looking to take him on loan

Says his moves to Coventry and Huddersfield have fallen through. With us and Swansea now putting offers on the table.

If so I’m quite optimistic. Swansea have a top top player in Matt Grimes who is a similar type too Garner. On top of that they’ve got Morgan White Gibbs, Korey Smith and Jay Fulton and only play a 2 in the middle. We on the other hand don’t have a Garner type.
