Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2020-2021

Get that cheque book open.

We'll have to offer a deal above and beyond for a decent forward especially if Monk wants his usual targetman. If it keeps us up it's worth another 500k over a year.

Diedhiou still hasn't signed a new deal at Brizzle I don't think. 1 year left. 27 and proven as a targetman. That's the kind of move we need.

Windass isn't anything to get excited about. Does seem our transfer policy so far is one we would have had if we had been relegated. I will give some of you credit some really are trying to be positive about Monk and signings but so far we have nothing to pull any trees up. There is a possibility Brown and young lad from City might be good but so far got in players who have just had bad injuries  and players who need to prove themselves. Squad so far isn't any better. And look where we ended up last season. Serious additions needed. Right now if Rhodes plays like he has we have nothing up front. Windass and Da Cruz are just like Rhodes. So nothing reliable up front. Can you tell I'm a HAPPY clapper lol can't help being honest, I can't do bullshiz

But the flip side is that it's a collection of players that want to be here, are a damn sight cheaper, and are probably a collective who are buying into the manager's ideas

Stoke are a parachute payment club.  We are now in world with no income coming through the gates.  Surely this is us starting to be sensible in a post covid/post point deduction world.

Yes mate exactly, I'm not criticising I'm just putting a realistic spin on why incomings are slow Fletcher was originally offered a good 2year deal and he was in the papers saying how much he wanted to stay. Then Corona virus hit and the offer was taken away.

Where's the £60m gone that somebody got for the stadium. Not sure who owned and who bought it but somebody has £60m sloshing around in their pocket.

WTF:

A lot of it will have gone on our Wage bill for the last (2?) seasons

If ever there was a season we had to push the boat out a bit to get some quality in it is this season when we are starting with a massive disadvantage. Really do hope we manage to pull a few quality strikers out of the bag in the next week or 2. We simply can’t go in to the season with Rhodes and Windass as our strikers.

We haven't got the money to push the boat out, all EFL clubs have had to reign it in. We got Izzy because we're only paying 20% of his wages, it's going to take time to get other smart deals like this.

It will take time. Ironically time will kill us. A slow start is the opposite to what we can afford. But we've only got ourselves to blame really.

the thing is we haven’t got time on our side like other clubs in the Championship have got. With us starting on -12 we simply have to from the very first game be ready and as strong as possible. We are already at a massive disadvantage.

Doesn’t really matter though, if all those players can only produce relegation form. Why turn to something that patently didn’t work last season Not even close to working

Of course we will sign 2 more. You say that about pushing the boat out but if we get relegated we are unlikely to recoup what we paid for them, or find others willing to take on their wages.

Pushing the boat out has already fizzed us unfortunately.

Project CLEAR ARHHHHT Update

Signing younger & better for cheaper, surprisingly isn't easy

As we need to fast start to the season, more than any other, we've moved onto looking for hungreh vagrants in Greno Woods

Who’d have thought it! No one wants to part with young hungry talent for nothing. Peanuts and monkeys comes to mind. Back to being a club without a pot to pee in.

We are starting on - 12 points and have the worst strike force in the league. We currently don’t have anyone who can run in behind defenders, play with their back to goal or offer any aerial ability.

We are currently almost nailed on to get relegated.

Imagine the club sat still not bothering to try and sign players eh,  swear to god half the fan base think the transfer market is as easy as the click of a mouse like on football manager !

That seems to me an accurate reflection of the state we are in at the moment - a week before our first competitive match of the season. Fingers crossed.
