Players chucked Monk under the bus

Recommended Posts

Another manager that our beloved players have strung up and chucked under the bus for their own gains.

We wont go down, cos the lads will start putting a shift back in when it looks like we will.

That is now Carlos, Jos, Bullen twice and Monk that the players have given up playing for and it is indefensible.

Yet some will still solely blame the gaffer.

They're not beloved, they're overpaid primadonnas with no fight and no pride in them... worthless and useless the lot of them just now.

They have a lot of work to do, because this situation under Monk is - like you say - not new, and will only come again under a new manager, so it's time these players are being put to the wall and made to earn their living.

Course they have. Players need to go before Monk. He’s absolutely bang on about them, he may have cost himself his job with his honesty but he’s bang on and I respect him for being the first manager to expose the real problems behind the scenes.

does that include the players he has brought into the team?

The ones that have played 2 games? They don’t belong to us anyways? And seeing as we haven’t spent over £1m since 2017 I doubt they’ll be here next year.

Hutch will be doing a 'fun' impression of Monk if a new manager plays him...and thinks it's what the fans want to see

Very unprofessional of him, thought it at the time as well. There’s certain players at this club who need to stop basking in the “success” of that first Carlos season. They failed. Instead of dusting themselves down, staying professional and cracking on regardless of whatever issues they have with management etc, they’ve decided to undermine the club, their fellow professionals and the fans.

Carlos head was turned by the attraction of a PL club, he had lost his desire by that stage as much as any player

Jos and his bizarre tactics, formations and selections got himself the sack.

Bullen is not a manager

Notice you don't mention Bruce

Only you and Monk though playing Forestieri at wing-back was going to work wonders tonight.

The starting 11 last night included Dawson, Borner, Iorfa, Windass, Wickham and Da Cruz, none of whom were involved in 'throwing any previous managers under the bus'. Harris and Murphy came on as sub, they have also only been here a few months How do you assess how they performed?

Lees isn't throwing anyone under the bus, he is simply in very poor form, Palmer is what he is, nothing special but didn't do much wrong, hardly a case for throwing Monk under the bus. Forestieri put the effort in considering he must have been as surprised as anyone with what Monk considered an effective position for him. Kieran lee is past his best due to bad injuries, don't think he can be accused of continually throwing managers under the bus.

That just leaves Bannan - are you telling me everything for the 4 managers you mention is all Bannan's fault and he is bringing everyone and everything down with him?!

Of course the players have to look at their own contributions but it is the job of the manager to get the best out of them and this is a different bunch to what previous managers have had.

That formation today was shocking gave the players no basis whatsoever to do anything with. It's like Monk came up with it yesterday and said let's see how it goes.   He takes the blame for that.

He must have only come up with it as a training plan for the squad this week because 3 of them have only been here for just over a week and they have now started 2 games in completely different formations - great way to get them to settle in.

Look at the eleven on the pitch tonight and what they cost;

Dawson - Academy

Palmer - Academy

Lees - Free

Iorfa - 200k

Borner - Free

Forestieri - £3m

Bannan - Free/undisclosed?

Lee - Free

Da Cruz - Loan

Windass - Loan

Wickham - Loan

Take FF out and that entire team cost about 200k to put together.

They were really poor tonight but when it’s a team put together with loans, frees and academy players how much are you expecting from them?

How much did Utd's side that won automatic promotion cost? I read that 4 of their side that started a recent PL game also started Wilder's first match in charge in League One.

Our side that got to Wembley had plenty of free/loan players in it.

True but throwing 3 loan players straight in and expecting them to deliver is desperate.

When fans say they’re blaming the players I’d rather they name names than just say the ‘players’.

Out of that 11 tonight who is the OP actually blaming? Most of them just aren’t very good. There’s a reason players are available for free/loan in January

It might have been shocking....but from a slightly different perspective, fans have been calling for changes and for monk to try something different!! He tries something different for 45 minutes and still gets slated.

Whilst the attitude of certain players not starting stinks - Monk is hardly blameless either.

He is not a builder of teams, he rarely stops more than 12 months anywhere and leaves a lot of dislike behind in the fan base.

The flip flop of formations, selections, tactics and I suspect an arrogance will have lost any professional respect for him.
