Hutchinson

Recommended Posts

Given this is the second manager Sam has had a spat with, I'd suggest he's a disruptive influence. We know he loses it on the field and now obviously on the training ground. Perhaps the cult status accorded him by some fans hasn't helped and he's getting too big for his boots, I don't know. If this is the case, sadly he's got to go.

We are not privy to what goes on behind closed doors. At best we get rumours and second hand info.

But, what we do know is that Pelupessy and Hunt were picked above him, despite him being available, and in a week where Monk went angry mad.

Think it’s clear enough where Hutchinson sits in the pecking order now. At the bottom.

I know it will never happen

But would love the the manager or player to just tell the truth and put it out in the open. Probably best from the gaffer or both of them together

Fed up of all this hear say and mindless tittle tattle about it all on here... topped off when KLEE trains with u23's which is normal after injury and posters saying he's fallen out with the gaffer now ..

Hutch may not be the future but neither is bloody Pelupessy.  God help us if he stays in the team until the end of season.

As soon as Loungo is fit, Pessy won't be in the team.

This has proven to be a big problem in itself so far though.

Keeps getting niggles and hasn't managed more than three successive games.

Which is shame because for me he is our most effective midfield player.

You could hear it in Monks voice that Hutchinson wasn't his favourite person when asked about him before the match.

But there is also Kerien Lee. He also should be in the first team squad but isn't . Something funny going on.

Joey Pelupessy is league 2 standard.

Lee is a bit different from Hutch, Bannan, Forestieri and Westwood though isn't he? He comes across as a quiet lad who just gets on with his job to the best of his abilities, without criticising his team mates.

Whether his abilities will ever be what they were before his two year break from football, is his big problem I am afraid. I don't think he has been anywhere near as effective as he was and quite honestly I do not think he looks good enough as a midfield player for a team that expects to finish higher than half way up the division at the moment. Lee has been one of my favourite players for most of his time with us, since Gray converted him into the dynamic midfielder that became a link player all over the pitch and then started to add more and more goals to his repertoire. Since Gray started bringing out the best out in him, I think he would always be the first player on the team-sheet, whoever our manager was. Now though, if it was based purely on the player he was, the one game when he looked as though he might be back to his best, or how much running he still does, he may still be picked above Pelupessy, but in terms of effectiveness, however much we might prefer to see Lee in the shirt, apart from Pelupessy's passing being a shade worse that Lee's, Pelupessy is just a touch in front of Lee in terms of consistent effectiveness and the amount of time that he can play without before subbed.

When is that going to happen though? Our player buying pattern of only bringing players in with existing fitness issues just seems to carry on going! Massimo has started less than a third of our league games so far and like a load of players that we have signed since DC took over, he came to us with question marks over his fitness. Not ideal with Bannan (30), Pelupessy (youngest at 26), KL (31) and Hutch (30) as our only other senior central midfield options and all of them having problems with various injuries and ongoing fitness issues.

As you rightly say, this is a result of years of a terrible policy.

If you remember back, Hutch was said to have fallen out with Carlos, Jos and now Garry, so unfortunately it seems to be part of his personality. Maybe he is frustrated at not being able to do more, what with his team mates making daft mistakes and him too, plus not being able to perhaps keep up the same energy levels as he would like (happens to us all and most of our central midfield up to now).

If you look at every player that is up for renewal and consider first whether you would sign them now from another club, playing the way they are, the answer to most of our midfielders being re-signed would surely be no. Our midfield has been sadly lacking for a while now and even Bannan, who has been a star player in many ways, does still have a lot missing from his game if he is going to be the main driving force for your team on a push for promotion. If we can find fitter younger alternatives to the players we already have with similar levels of skill, that alone would be a huge step forward. If we could find one or two midfielders and defenders that can also get their heads over the ball when they shoot, instead of leaning back and firing way over the bar every time, or even get a midfielder or two that can score direct from a free kick, we would be way ahead of what we have right now. Our midfield has been lacking in real quality for years. Hutch was never a midfield player in the first place, neither was Lee (although along with Bannan, they are probably the best combo we have had for a while when they were in their prime), but these players used to drive us forward the best they could when Forestieri, Hooper and Wallace had enough quality to score enough goals to win us games that perhaps we were otherwise a bit lucky to win. Unfortunately none of those players are anything like at their best right now, some have moved on, some have contracts that are up and as much as we would love to see them all come back to full strength and do the business for us, only Bannan really offers any glimpses of quality at times and he still has another year left with us.

Coming back to Hutchinson, to me it sums up we as fans mindset

People saying he should be the first name on the team sheet ,

Fact is, along with one or two other fans favourites  he isn't very good and much overrated

Remember how non of utd s players would get in our side , yeah right !

In a nutshell players we have that are just above average we treat as though they are world beaters  well they are not sadly and we are finding out the hard way

The huge amounts of pressure that we have put on the likes of Bannan, for instance is incredible really. In his first season with us he was way down the list of our players that were credited with assists. He had 2 in the 2015/16 season, just one ahead of Westwood! (Wallace was top with 8, Nuhiu & Forestieri were next with 6 each followed by Hooper with 5). Even then, we were saying that he needed help in the middle with another creative midfielder to take the weight off, but instead we relied on him more and more. As for Hutch, considering that he had retired due to injury before he came to us and that we expect him to do so much still, it is amazing that he is still playing at all now he's 30!

A lot of players have given what they could for our cause and although high wages are not everybody's driving force, they have been paid well for their efforts and they may have been paid as much, if not more than they could have earned elsewhere, but their efforts were not quite good enough then and they certainly struggle to reach those same levels now, so it is definitely time for them to move on and pass the shirt on to someone else (sniff).
