Players need to go - Monk

For me this reflects what the fans have generally said. The issue for me is this 'player who fights for the club' comment. I agree this is a key attribute, but it's often given to the less technically gifted players; like Fox, Palmer, Pelupessy, Nuhiu etc. Fighting for the club should be a gimme in my eyes; not an optional trait, where you say, 'he's a bit average, but at least he tries'

We need and deserve better, although we may have to blend the quality players with the 'graffters' in the short term and see if this brings better performances.

Agree.

If he's ever given the chance to sign a player I'm sure he'd like to bring in the grafting , hard working type with the right attitude. ...but with quality.

Whether he ever gets the chance to spend the two buttons and ball of string left in the kitty is another matter....

To be fair, whatever anyone says about Monk, he's inherited a team and not had the opportunity to build one.

To be fair to him again he's only echoing the sentiment widely expressed on here over a long period.

Let's see what happens next but it's going to be a process not overnight.

Any manager that comes in is getting the same dross, until they are allowed to bring in their own players. Its nice to see a manager that isn't kissing the Rs' of some of these underachieving, money grabbing, wasters.

Don't disagree,  but you can coach players tactically and technically. You can't coach attitude, desire, pace.

Can't carry any passengers, whether 'quality' or otherwise, everyone has to graft, as an absolute minimum in order to earn the right to play.

I agree - an example is Wallace. He was a good championship player; not quick but clever and put in very good crosses and had a decent scoring return. He also grafted, and you could never say he didn't fight.

His time came to an end, and we now have Reach, Harris and Murphy. Whilst technically they are on the same level as Wallace; their energy; commitment and fight is below Wallace levels for me.

Our future acquisitions must blend these attributes.

Its not just about fight and graft, that team last night had no leaders, from the first moment Lee's came on and we reorganised 3/4 of the back 4 it was obvious it was going to be a shambles. From back to front we were quiet, passive, reactive and disinterested and the fans reaction at the end showed the dislocation between us and the players. Only three good points last night , chicken balti pie, free parking and those two Casino classics they played before they brought out the motley. Whelmometer well and truly taken off the wall and smashed into a thousand pieces. UTO

Fair enough if you think they should be shown the door but saying they get everyone else to down tools as well?

FF hasn't been in the side consistently for ages and Bannan has even been critical of him, Hutchinson has been in and out this season but hasn't seemed to kick up a fuss about it, Bannan is the one regularly in the team - who is he telling to down tools and who is agreeing to go along with this?

Those 4 run the dressing room I believe.

They control everything in there, that is pretty clear to me.

It's like the bully at school. They don't like or want to fo something, they'll make everyone else do it too.

If you refuse, they cut you out and make everyone dislike you *cough* winnall *cough* Rhodes *cough* etc.

It's not like I know of course, but its obvious where the problem lies looking in and it's with these 4, the main 4 from the play off failures who should have been moved in 2018 and 2019.

I'm afraid a few fan favourites that give loads of flannel on social media and in interviews have been taking the Michael a bit.

As we know as fans, lack of quality at times we can accept...lack of desire and effort - either in training, coming back to fitness after injury or on the pitch in the 90 minutes is completely unacceptable.

We are not the only club that this is happening to, but that doesn't mean it's ' just the way football is' .

I would go as far as to paying some players off to get them out of the club.

Worthy of Chris Morris.

Carlos said peripheral players were unmotivated.

Jos axed several players.

Players threw Bullen under bus when they feared his appointment.

Bruce wanted players gone and was frustrated by lack of movement.

Monk has now called players out having finally sussed them.

DC needs to acknowledge what his managers have told him about the group and stop keeping this mercenary squad together. They won't take us where we all wanna go, and they're robbing him blind.

This squad is full of losers and failures and most of the players that were involved in the play offs debacle should have been moved on years ago.

We can't carry on putting all the blame on the failed play off team. I agree that a lot of them should have been moved on but even the pkayers we have signed since are not performing including ones from this season. The problem seems to go deeper; is it the coaching system (or lack of it), the management? I don't know the answer but it's all the players that are struggling.

Those key play off players are parasites and the minute a new player joins, they break them down until they dont care anymore like them.

It doesn't say much for the character of the players we've signed if that's true.

Said it before - there’s something rotten in the changing room - a little clique of sh**stirrers. For all his faults Jos tried to address this by dropping the favourites and bringing youngsters in and we all know what happened to him. For me this started when FF refused to travel to Norwich and the club bent over. One bad apple and all that. The main attribute for a player is attitude. We’ve had Abdi, FF, Rhodes and now Westy, all mysteriously unavailable or not selected for long periods. I’ll judge Monk when it’s his players out there.

If that’s the case, and I don’t believe it is, then we probably haven’t done our homework on these new players we are signing

It’s not callow youths we are signing, they are experienced players, adults, and shouldn’t be broken down by players not even in the team.

Surely, if this is the case, the answer is relatively simple. Whilst honouring the contracts of the said players, bar them from access to the club, players, training facilities, and keep them as far away from the club as possible. Name and shame!!!  Yes, there will be outcry from press, agents and fans alike,  but if the club survives, this will benefit fans eventually. Not only is the current state of affairs harmful to the club in all respects ,, it's a bit like having damp in the foundations. It's caused hidden problems all through the home and is starting to split the fan base from the club.
