depends what part you live in, it’s fabulous where I am but half hour away in car very different story.

Went to Cape Town other year, all tourists parts are pretty safe. 
We got told that if we hired a car not to stop for the police and drive to the police station and not stop. Also, got told not to stop at traffic lights. 
Johannesburg is pwopa nawwwty though!

That’s probably not advisable either or else you’ll end up with theSouth African version of Bullitt as they muster up all the squad cars to chase after you.WTF:

Yeah we decided to ignore that piece of “advice”. 
Wonderful place though, absolutely loved it. I’d go back tomorrow if I could.
