Popular Post Lord Snooty
"Good evening, Sir." "Evening Stubbs! How are you old bean?" "Very well, Sir. And if you don't mind me saying, Sir, you seem in excellent spirits yourself" " I am Stubbs. I am." "Can I ask why, Sir?" "L**ds United nil. Wednesday two,Stubbs!" "That was a week ago ,Sir" "I know. I know. But I'm still buzzing. Do you know, I think it's because I'd actually forgotten just how much I hate L**ds United. I really had. Maybe it's because they only come on the radar twice a season. But I have to be honest, I have to think quite a way back to the last time I enjoyed a victory as much as that." "Indeed an excellent, and unexpected win,Sir" "It wasn't just the win though Stubbs. It was the manner of the win, I mean, the media have had their hamptons out about Bielsa and his boys all season long. And to be fair, given the way they started at Arsenal there was a bit of trepidation. But if they don't score during the early blitzkrieg then you have a chance and so it proved for our lads. They were strong, resolute, and showed big balls." "Indeed,Sir" "It's hard work when the gaffer tells you the game plan is to weather an early onslaught. "What if we go behind? What the hell do we do then!" But we needn't have worried. They started running out of steam quickly and then...then we score at the last knockings. There's no greater victory than the last gasp snatched ones is there?! And what goals too! Quality. Not just smash and grabs but goals which, had they been scored at the other end I'm sure would have led to an extended episode of Monday nights Look North. As it was... hahah...Stubb, did you see, in the aftermath of the celebrations that Cam thread?" "I didn't Sir" "I was mesmerised by it. Torres' posted it off the the L**ds TV Bielsa Dugout Cam. Obviously I wasn't watching their dug out but ours. And what I liked was seeing the subs jumping about like nutters" "Really?" "Absolutely! Take Winnall for example. He's not really done much here. He was in and out. Then off to Derby. Then injured. Then sparingly used. He's not really had a genuine sniff. His contract is up in the summer and given the little action he's had it wouldn't be too much to think he might be off to pastures new. Yet look at that lad jumping about - . He'd been hooked off the park and it would have easy for him to have been sat on the bench with the old face on. But no, he's out there fist pumping and cuddling and loving it, ...now I'm no fool Stubbs in the big scheme of things, that means naff all. But I like to see it. Shows there's a bit of spirit in the camp. I'm always interested to see the reactions of the other players when the team does well while they're not on the park. I think it gives you a genuine look at who the 'team' men are. Also I like Garrys little kick. Sometimes you've just got to get it out. Yes,I know we shouldn't read too much into the recent results against Brighton and L**ds, anymore than we shouldn't have panicked when we lost a couple over Christmas. As the gaffer is keen to keep reminding us, the Championship is a wide open league and anything can happen on any given day. But...but... I'm just getting that little inkling. Y'know. When the subs are leaping about. And when players who haven't had an easy relationship with the support are loving it this much.. I start getting that feeling in my belly that there's a real bond developing in the side. A real spirit. It's easy to talk about team spirit when you win every week. But we'd just come into this on the back of some bad results, and ropey performances within that. The sort of results which can send a team on a spiral. But the way the lads have shaped up since... yes.... I'm starting to warm to this Monk character and I'm liking the way he puts team first. Doesn't have favourites. Players like that too. They like honesty. I think they're getting that from him. And I think we're going to see the benefits. Dispatching the Premier League team in the Cup. Media favourites L**ds in the league. Bring it on ,Stubbs! Bring. IT. ON! By the way which giants do we slaughter next?!!" "Blackburn Rovers, Sir. Currently placed 13th and haven't won for six games" "Oh FFS sake. What did you have to tell me that for!" ============================================== Wednesday - V - Blackbu'n Championship Saturday 18th January Kick off : 3:00pm Wednesday Ground ============================================== THE TEAM NEWS SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY Wednesday Wednesday are without Forestieri and Palmer who hope to return to full training next week. offalyowl
Excellent snoots as always but why did you have to mention that losing streak by Blackburn because Im nervous as f_ck now, was confident all week we would win this 3-1 thanks

Wednesday remain the last shining lamp of hope on the horizon of doom for the manager whose team can't buy a win. One minute they get the vote of confidence, and start packing their bags appropriately and then the assistant runs in with the fixture list. "Hang fire Tone, hang fire. It's not over yet" "We haven't won in 5 months Deano" "Yeah, but we've got Wednesday on Saturday" 1

Rogers
Didn’t Tony Mowbray day we (Blackburn) should be beating teams like Sheffield Wednesday
edmontonowl
Nothing's clean/clear cut in this league. You've got to think we have enough to get past Rovers at home. We've done it previously but we seem good at blowing hot (Brighton, Leeds) then cold. And seemingly always cold at home. But blow it. Winnall to start, scoring our equaliser off his shin then replaced by Nuhui off the bench for the last 20 who slams in the winner...................again. 2-1 Owls.

Pablo Bonvin
Thanks for another excellent post Snoots. I was enjoying reading it right up until you mentioned recent form, then I decided it was time to reach for the first drink of the day.... However, I think we are all still buzzing after last week’s triumph against the dirty ones. I hope the lads are as well and that this will lead to another Saturday night with me wondering whether Owlstalk will crash again because everyone is flooding it with positivity. Blackburn? We should be beating teams like them. Up the Owls.

Can we get a comfortable home win? Im hoping we see Reach left and a midfield of Lee-Bannan-Luongo.
