However, he has always been a leftback and wasn't ever a wingback, which was the style we were playing and expecting of him at the time. I think this made him look worse than he is, and ruined his confidence as it wasn't his game. Its also no coincidence that since hes had protection and help from Harris tracking back, hes looked a lot more assured and able to get forward. Hes a good solid left back at this level and probably always has been. Just took understanding of his ability and playing him in the right way to get the best of him out.
