Palmer started season well and preformed well at LB. However he has been poor in  a number of matches which mainly coincided with him being picked foe Scotland

Had a couple of off games, happens to everyone Best full back at the club

Silly costly errors get the manager the sack.. that's why he and Westwood have been binned off without mercy.

Yep good point.

Fox is better than Palmer in my opinion.

WTF?!

He’s barely put a foot wrong Palmer - sending off, granted. But he’s been consistently good all season.

Not for me, started the season well but since moving back to RB his performances have dropped off.

No offence to Palmer but that shows just how far away we are from being credible promotion candidates. Although both him and Fox have improved this season we must be one of weakest teams in the league at full back.

Had a few more than a couple. There's not exactly a great deal of competition for the best full back although I'm sure many might give that accolade to Fox.

Great decision - fella has been utterly useless and cost us half a dozen goals minimum.

There is no doubt that so far he has been poor.

Will be a real blow to his confidence being rejected after less than 6 months in the job.

No problem with us taking early action and informing him that if he can find a new club he can leave but it should have been kept between the player and the club.

No offence to the lad but I'm not bothered about his confidence I'm more bothered that he's not out on the pitch gifting the opposition penalties.

he didn’t show any glimpses of being a great player he showed loads of being a poor one.

the two pens at preston

the pen and sending off at derby

the dive in at Charlton

constantly out of position - bad decision making - he was awful.

im more reassured than anything - we’ve got a manager that knows when someone isn’t up to it and even better - didn’t play him at the weekend for the sake of it and gave a promising youngster a chance instead.

He'll end up at QPR with Warburton, had him at Brentford and we beat them to his signature in the summer. I'd be asking for some money for him though.

Don’t be silly now.

Fox has improved but Palmer always steady.

Gets far too much abuse when does nothing wrong.

In all his time at club he hasn’t done anything as bad as Odubajo has in short time.

Wouldn't necessarily disagree, however that's more of an indictment of the poor quality we've had in those positions & that we've all known we needed to improve on since Wembley.

Fox out of contract, Moses going, leaves us with Palmer!

Seems like we've been crying out for focus on getting decent full backs for years. Now we'll have to try and do it.

A couple? He’s been rank for most of his games at RB. His only good performances have been at LB.

I do find it funny how everyone now believes he was at fault for the penalty at Derby, whilst after the game everyone was pretty vocal that it was a foul on Odubajo.

More wonderful Owlstalk revisionism.

Also amusing is that this ruthlessness towards a 26 year old seasoned Championship full back gets applauded where as the sale of a subpar 23 year old clogger - who was never going to make it here - was met with howls of derision

Just shows the different standards fans hold perceived ‘academy products’ to. If Fox had been playing like Palmer has been he would have been chased out of town
